Qualitative Research

This book is the best guide to qualitative research I've ever encountered. It is clear and easy to read, with great examples of qualitative practice sprinkled throughout. I believe this book is so clear and easy to read because it is a positive, non-defensive book. Many qualitative researcher seem to feel their field is "under attack," and respond by writing qualitative books which preach to the reader or seem to defend against accusations the reader may not care about. Not only is the constant defensiveness annoying, it's completely baffling for anyone new to qualitative research, unfamiliar with the complicated histories of qualitative inquiry. This is the first, the only qualitative book I've seen which doesn't take an overtly defensive stance. Concepts are explained on their own merits, which makes this book a thousand times more readable and enjoyable than most other texts on this topic.

This book on qualitative research is one of the most comprehensive guides I have read on this topic. This particular book is useful for graduate students who want a complete understanding of qualitative research. The authors address important facts and also areas where there might be debates about what constitutes best practice. This book is ideal for all methods courses focused on aspects of qualitative research. In addition, qualitative researchers and scholars can gain some meaningful insights as this book includes examples of practice or illustrations of the key concepts from different fields. I most highly recommend this book!!

This book is readable, and does an excellent job of aligning qualitative research with developments in worldviews, values, societal norms, and so on.
