This is my first lantern style light modifier and wasn't sure what to expect. It was a little hard to tell exactly how it actually opens and stays open, but once you see it in person it's amazingly easy.You basically just place it vertically with the bottom part on the ground, stand over it and push down on the speedring part. As you look inside when it starts to open, you'll see the "latch" style hook on the bottom and you just need to slip the other bar part (that's attached to the speedring assembly) underneath it. Reverse that to close it down again, but get ready for the whoosh of air that comes out the top and hits you in your face unexpectedly!The entire thing seems well made, but there are some elastic loops that go over the speedring knobs that slipped off while I was setting it up. Just keep a look out for those and slip them back over the knobs.It comes with a skirt you can velcro to the lantern to help flag off any stray light you don't want. I like that it came with the lantern and that I didn't have to buy it extra. It also comes with a carrying case with a strap and the bowens speedring.It is quite large (35" version) and puts out a nice quality of soft light. I purchased this for use in lighting groups of people sitting around a table, to help fill in some ambient background, and also as a general soft lighting modifier to try out for other things where I don't want the directness of a softbox or parabolic. Looking forward to playing around with it more and seeing what I can do with it.I would recommend at least a 200+ watt led light to use with this as a key light, due to how large it is. You may get away with smaller wattage lights, depending on how close to your subjects you want to put it and how bright you need things to get. If you just need to add a little ambient light to the room, you could probably get away with a smaller wattage light also.

I'm a 14 year veteran pro Photographer and have always used classic soft boxes with black sides....then...I found this lantern soft box and my life has changed! I immediately bought a second and it's now my go to! Soft light with full light distribution!! Plus it's a SNAP to set up! A simple interior hook and it's set up!The bag is pretty big and long but it's worth it!!

Item arrived on time and what I like most about it is it's easy to set up and it comes with a carry bag for easy transportation. This is the first time I tired using the lantern modifying and I like it because it distributes the light at 360 degrees in a very nice and soft way. It's great for photographing children as they tend to move a lot and this modifier provides enough light to cover all areas. Great product!

I have a Neewer 150 light and was using a Godox soft box because it was cheaper but it kept falling off the light. I stupidly blamed the light lock on the bowels mount before buying a Neewer soft box and trying it. Better late than never! This box fits perfectly and stays locked on and the quality of the light is much better. The fabric allows more light through and the slight color tone is much nicer. I’m very happy with this especially I love the spines are already installed. My old school boxes we had to install and break down each pole one at a time. I’m putting those in the trash. I should have bought this first. Neewer support couldn’t have been better either. They were really nice and generous and it was my mistake.

I was a little skeptical about this type of softbox, but I saw ones like it all over YouTube recommendation videos so decided to give it a try. I'm pleasantly surprised by its ability to cast a soft but adequate light on my video subjects without harsh hotspots or reflections in people's glasses. And the shape can light a large area as softly as it lights a single person up close.Very happy with the purchase and recommend it if you need soft light.

This softball is so easy to set up. It does an amazing job defusing the light. Easy it all the time.

As with most of the Neewer products I own, this is pretty nicely made. It works well and has a nice soft light. Pretty easy to control the light with the included shroud. I really like it!

I've had a minor issue with the lantern 90 after a shoot, reached out to Neewer via their website (the amazon product support was not working) - They immediately responded to my request and got my item replaced. Top of the line customer service and will shop neewer products again in the future because of this great experience.

I think this is better because of the features better than Godox version because you don't need to add the over its setup in 2 seconds. and it comes with the cover for free and a really nice hard case to carry the item around. it is worth the money, good light spread and amazing light on the video. I used mine with the Newer CB60B and love it.
