This is very nice with a lip around where you put the silver container. You can freeze water in the bottom (you have to measure how much so the bowl fits) and then add your bowl.

I now have three of these. They are perfect for my frequent entertaining allowing me to keep dips, sour cream, salad dressings, etc. cold for long periods of time. I actually put some water in the bowl, place the insert into the bowl then freeze it the night before. You'll need to weight it down with something as the water will make the insert float if you don't. The next morning you'll have a great receptacle for anything that needs to be kept cold.
