Use a 6.5mm drill bit not a 7!
These are good, strong, proper plugs, unlike the cheap stuff. I have tried using wall pligs in the past but just couldn’t get them to fit the holes or screws properly. As another reviewer recommended, definitely use a 6.5 drill bit and not a 7 as written on the pack. Really glad I read that review first as a number 7 hole would clearly have been too big. A few holes needed a slight tap with a hammer to get the plug in.I used wood screws like the pack recommended and they screwed in nice and smoothly.(Wood screws: 4mm width x 40mm length. Purchased here. Brand name “T.K.Excellent”)If my shelves should fall down because of the plugs I will update this review but so far so good!

These did a great job
Bought these cos the floating shelves I bought had screws and plugs provided in them that were just NOT fit for purpose, bought these and some decent screws andf the shelves went up a treat, wonder why the shelf manufactures supply such rubbish screws and plugs with the shelves in the first place cos doubt if they included sufficient of these and decent screws with the shelves it would add even a couple of pennies to the cost of the shelves and they might not find they got so many complaints in their product's reviews!?
