Why don't the fans change colour when I use the remote?

They should do. Have you tried all of the buttons? Also have you removed the plastic battery part from the back of the remote?

Its just a standard wifi 5 n card works fine for me never had any issues even with the pc upstairs and the router downstairs

No you can't, do not buy from this supplier, I had an horrific service, arrived broken and refused to take it back, all dislodged, glass smashed offered me £10 compensation.
