SLX Casting

Very good casting rod. Was packaged well. I like the rod a lot. I'm considering buying the spinning rod soon. Highly recommend this rod.

Live in Northern NH and fish for bass. I own a much larger Okuma Swimbait Select rod but don’t use it much as it’s better for larger baits, throwing larger baits here usually ends up with pike destroying or breaking off gear. It’s also difficult to throw out of my fishing kayak (NuCanoe Pursit). The sweet spot for me is baits up to 7 inches in the 1-3ozs I was looking for a shorter rod that could still huck a 1-3oz bait with no issues. Using jig rods etc usually only resulted in throwing 1 to 1/2 oz Swimbaits at best. Make no mistake this is not your standard medium heavy 7ft 4 rod, it’s got enough back bone to toss jig or treble hook baits and set the hook. It’s really the only rod in this size or price range for those medium sized baits. It also has excellent build quality and decently priced for a Swimbait rod. The only other comp is the Kastking speed demon rod for Swimbaits at around the same price but under whelming with around a 1oz limit. Highly recommend.

I got the 7'5" version, and it really helps with both casting distance and accuracy. It feels great in your hand, and since it's so lightweight, you can cast all day without burning out your shoulders. The color combination is clean and sharp, and honestly, the value you get is far beyond the price. Highly recommend!

This must have been a defect in production. I inspected the Rod as I unpacked. It was well protected with no damage that was obvious. Installed my matching Shimano reel, spooled up 30lb braid and tied on a spinner bait to make practice casts. First cast and it broke about 18” down. Couldn’t believe what just happened! Shimano usually make good products however this Rod is very thin at the breaking point.

A lot of people say that a 7'MH rod is the all around best baitcaster rod, but I believe this is that all around best rod. I fish a lot of lipless crankbaits, chatter baits and Texas rigs and this rod is perfect for all of those. The quality of the rod is amazing. It's nice and light and doesn't feel cheaply made. It has nothing to do with the rod itself, but I beat my PB 4 times in 1 day with this rod making me love it even more.
