FIRST TIME USER - Tips for success!
So... I am a mom in my 50s who never used a tanner of this kind. My daughter uses it regularly and has an amazing golden glow that I wanted. But I wasn't sure I was willing to put in the work. So my girl gave me very detailed instructions on what to do and WOW did it work. Pros: Very natural golden tan that looked amazing on my very first try Didn't have to sleep in the product overnight Tan still going fairly strong a full week later Cons: I hate the smell. It's just... that tanner smell. The good news is it dissipates in maybe 24-36 hours but I couldn't stop smelling it for the first full day I had my tan. So if I was going to apply this for, say, a Saturday wedding, I would do it on Wednesday night so I'd still have great color but no smell for the big day. I realize some people don't mind that smell but I just, well, I can't stand it. So here's the lowdown on what I was instructed to do, and this worked like a charm. BUY A MITT. Don't even attempt to do this without one. I got a simple black mitt here on Amazon for $4.89 and it did the job beautifully. I don't think the pricey Loving Tan mitt is necessary at all. Take a shower, shave, and really try to exfoliate knees, elbows, knuckles, and toes. I just rubbed hard with a washcloth and soap, that did the job just fine. Make sure you are fully dry and then rub a tiny bit of moisturizer into the areas above that you exfoliated, so you don't have abnormally dark areas in those spots once the tanner sets up. PUT ON RUBBER GLOVES. Just the cheap disposable gloves that look like the kind of gloves your doctor or dentist uses. Pull up your hair, fully undress, and get in front of a mirror. Do your face first, with the mitt, and be sure to get your ears and neck. I shook the product well, put a small amount on the mitt, and applied in little circular motions with the mitt for each "dose" of tanner. Do your body in sections. Each arm as a whole. Each leg as a whole. Your armpits. Have someone on had to do your back if you need that evenly bronzed as well. Don't go crazy with the product on your knees, elbows, feet. Again, you don't want those areas to look too dark. Once you've done everything else, remove the rubber gloves and do your hands. Then, stand still and let everything fully dry for 10 minutes. Put on a loose robe or baggy PJs. No underwear, no bra, nothing that is tight against your body. Let the product "cure" for 3 hours (or up to 5, my daughter says) and then get in the shower and rinse off using your hands only to remove the product. No soap. No wash cloth, unless you use a very soft cloth to remove the tanner from your face. When you get out of the shower, PAT yourself dry with a towel you don't mind staining. No hard rubbing. Then, slather yourself in moisturizer before getting dressed/going to bed. This tan looked so real. Not orange at all, just golden and believable. I continued to be gentle the first couple of days when showering, and used a mild shower gel with a very soft cloth vs soap and a terry washcloth. I kept patting dry after my showers and put lots on lotion on to keep my skin hydrated and the tan looking great. Hope those tips help you, too. I was SO nervous I was going to look patchy or streaky or orange and I was none of these. I literally looked like I had just come home from a beach trip. : )

this is the bomb
This is the best tanner I have ever used. No orange tones and the color lasts a good 4-5 days. Very easy to apply. It puts a "cast" on your skin that you wash off after several hours, leaving you with a sun kissed glow. I dont put it on my face unless Im going to be home because it can look uneven and blotchy as it dries and settles in. But then you go wash off the cast and the color is good. I really love this stuff, especially on my arms and legs. I can get my legs pretty dark and Im thrilled that the color lasts so long, most dont. I use a mitt to put on and I exfoliate well before applying. Getting ready to order my 3rd bottle, this is my new go to.

Nice but darker.
I chose the " middle" shade and it was darker than I expected. I also have never used a product where after 6 hours you wash it off. No odor which was nice.

Beautiful tan
I am a first time user. I used to work in a tanning salon when I was younger. So, I have used the beds.. spray tans.. I have tried it all. This is by far my favorite self tanner I have ever used. It does not have that terrible smell some self tanners do. It also goes on so smoothly and quickly dries during application. It is a little on the pricey side. But, it is so worth it! But.. I will say you can purchase a cheaper tanning mitt than the loving tan brand. I used the St. Tropez mitt I got for like $6 compared to the $15.

Best Self Tanner!
This is the best self tanner I have purchased! The mouse really goes on smooth and does not make you orange. It goes on easy like lotion. There are no streaks or spotting. I love this product.

BEST set tan!
OK, I’m Irish and very pale, lots of freckles, yada yada. I’ve been off and on self tanning for years and guys... THIS IS THE MOST NATURAL fake tan I have EVER used in all my 33 years! I’ve tried tons of them and they almost always leave a weird orange color on me because I have a warm skin tone. This tan is more of an ashy red based tanner so it does wonders for more pale warm based skin colors. I was putting on trying it because of the price, but don’t let that deter you from trying this product. It’s worth every penny I spent and more. The product itself doesn’t really have much of a smell at first, obviously eventually it does develop that “fake tan” smell but it dissipates when you rinse with cool water in the morning. Leaves behind a beautiful color that is to die for! It it very easy to blend in and isn’t very drying, but then you can put your clothes back on or a light robe within I’d say -0 minutes and it doesn’t transfer. I am a Loving Tan lifer now!

A pale girl's HERO!
This review may be a little extensive, but I just feel like I need to rave about this product for a second. My entire life, I have ALWAYS been the pale friend of the group. I'm talking, Irish white pasty skin. I can lay by the pool for days on end and never see a bit of olive color on my skin. I just normally burn and get more freckles. And I know there are those people reading this that are like "yup, that's me too!" Now, I haven't used self tanner in a whileeee. I've been burned many times by the failed attempts with Jergen's Natural Glow lotion or the several accidents using Fake Bake, and I don't want to mess up using a new product and have to go out in public and deal with the embarrassment of having Cheeto legs. Luckily, we are still in quarantine due to the outbreak of COVID-19, and I guess there really is a silver lining to everything. I figured this would be the perfect time to try a new self tanner since I don't have to see anyone if I have an accident with it! One day, I literally Googled, "self tanner that works best on pale skin," and I came across Loving Tan on a YouTuber's account (Shoutout to Conagh Kat!) Y'all....when I say this product is amazing....it's amazing. I was SUPER skeptical going into the experience, but I purchased everything other people's reviews said to. I bought this mousse, the face tanner from Loving Tan, an exfoliating glove, a mitt, the whole nine yards. I recommend going all the way if you're planning to try this out. I naturally have a yellow undertone, but this product gives off a red undertone which gave my skin a beautiful olive color that I've been missing all my life. I used a tanning mitt to apply it to the majority of my body, (I bought a St. Tropez mitt simply because it was cheaper than Loving Tan's) but I would use a makeup brush to help blend certain areas (ie. hands, elbows, neck). I applied this product at nighttime, slept in it, and showered off in the morning using water only. Beware because you're going to be extremely dark and perhaps dirty looking when you first wake up in the morning, but that's just the guide color. Once you shower, you'll be left with a beautiful tan! Because I am so pale and not yet the expert in self tanner, I started with the Medium shade. Believe me, if you're as white as me, that's all you'll need. I was already at least 2 shades darker, but it looked very natural. As I mentioned before, I paired it with the Loving Tan Face Tanner in medium (which I applied with a makeup brush). However, I wouldn't sleep all night in the face tanner. I only left it on for about an hour and a half and my face was already much darker. If you actual take the time to exfoliate and prep your skin, this stuff is the BEEZ-NEEZ. As far as longevity, if I had actually tried to moisturize consistently like you're suppose to, it would've probably lasted longer, however, even with my normal shower and skin routine, it still lasted about 4-5 days, which I feel is pretty impressive. When it comes down to it, I'd put Loving Tan up against anything. I will definitely ben using this all summer long!
