I recently picked up the KINGBOLEN K7 OBD2 Scanner Bluetooth (2025 New Version) and I’m seriously impressed. I’ve tried a few cheaper scanners in the past, but this one is on another level in terms of features, speed, and overall usability. Setup & Connection: Pairing via Bluetooth was quick and stable. The app interface is smooth and much more intuitive than other scan tools I’ve used. Updates are lifetime free, which is a huge plus no hidden fees down the road. Performance: This scanner goes way beyond just reading codes. The full-system diagnosis is accurate and fast, and I love that it covers everything from engine and transmission to ABS, airbags, and more. The bidirectional control is a game-changer I was able to run active tests like cycling the ABS pump and turning on fuel injectors, which saved me a trip to the shop. Advanced Features: ECU Coding works flawlessly and gives flexibility usually reserved for much pricier tools. The 31+ reset functions (oil, EPB, SAS, throttle, etc.) come in handy for routine maintenance. FCA AutoAuth support means it works perfectly with newer Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Fiat vehicles. I even tested the crankshaft relearn feature—super smooth and saved me hundreds versus going to a dealer. Build Quality: The scanner feels sturdy, and the software updates show the company is actively supporting the product. It definitely doesn’t feel like a cheap “throwaway” tool. Verdict: If you’re a DIYer, enthusiast, or even a professional mechanic looking for a reliable, versatile, and powerful scan tool, the KINGBOLEN K7 is worth it. I have had this tool for little over a week now and I am very impressed. Coming from basic handheld OBD2 Scanners and bluetooth connected smart phone scanners, this is a total game changer for me. The big touch screen makes using and the readability of the issues more clear I have used this tool on Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus, Jeep, and Volkswagen so far and speed and amount of computer access this scan tool has provided me has elevated my abilities to do repairs to each vehicle. The Diagnostic accuracy exceeds all other scan tools I have used. This tool found trouble codes other scan tools couldn't find. I was able to use the AI connectivity feature to search the code and connect to a live video to troubleshoot the issue. On the Toyota and Volkswagen models I was able to access the hidden menu settings to change special features that normal scan tools do not give you access to. That is already worth the price of the scan tool itself with the price the dealerships are charging now a days. Build quality seems sturdy, battery life has been fantastic. I have yet to charge this tool up since receiving it and I have been using it everyday.

This bidirectional scanner is freaking awesome! I'm not a mechanic, yet I am handy and perform most automotive repairs for myself as well as for my family andfriends. I own basic scanners and they serve their purpose but have limitations. After weeks of reviewing other scanners, I ended up with the K7. This scanner does the basics: reads codes, erases codes, I/M readiness (for smog tests) and shows/graphs live data. But then it does much more...reads all systems (ABS, SRS, Transmission, etc). Depending on the vehicle, it also performs actuator testing. This includes turning on and off evap solenoids, fans, a/c clutches, headlights, etc. In the short period I've owned it, it has assisted in testing evap solenoids, finding and fixing a faulty seatbelt and troubleshooting a cooling fan. All these issues on 3 different vehicles. It already paid for itself. Again, I am not a mechanic..but with a tool like this K7 and tons of data and videos available online, a do-it yourself type of person can diagnose and fix a bunch of things just by remotely activating systems for testing. The lifetime free updates is also a plus. I haven't used all it's functions yet and some are well over my skill-set. For a mid range price point, it has been incredible so far. If I had any complaints on the K7, it would be that it is a bit slow to initially connect to the vehicle. But it is not a huge delay and once connected, you breeze through the functions.

If you’re purchasing this tool for programming key fobs, please be aware that it does not retrieve the vehicle’s PIN (Personal Identification Number). You will need to already have the PIN, obtain it from the dealership, or use a separate scanner capable of reading the PIN. For convenience and efficiency, it’s recommended to use a device that combines both PIN retrieval and key fob programming capabilities. That said, this tool should work well for general vehicle diagnostics. It can also program key fobs, provided you already have the necessary PIN.

As a seasoned YouTube master tech working on cars in the garage as the family mechanic, having a comprehensive scan tool that would not break the bank and allow me to diagnose, read stored codes, get live-data, and be able to code (hopefully will never have to). It was already charged out of the box and only took a few minutes to complete all the updates. Within minutes, I was ready to plug the wireless reader into the OBD port and start diagnosing this door lock actuator issue on an Acura that's been bugging me. This was the most comprehensive scan tool I've ever used, and was honestly a little nervous on how complicated it would be to use as someone that isn't as tech savvy as others, but I was very impressed on how easy it was to navigate through the features and easily found my way to test my actuators. Since I've had it, I have used it about a dozen times to scan check engine light codes and get live-data on several Hondas, Toyotas, BMWs, and even an Audi. I feel like a legit (DIY) mechanic when I use my fancy K7. Overall, impressed with it's build-quality, ease of use, user-friendly interface, and the value of this tool. Would definitely recommend.

Per my husband: I have been working on cars since I was around 12 and I have always looked for the next gadget to increase my skillset as the vehicles become more modernized. I own many scanners and was thinking this KINGBOLEN 7 would add some advances to my repertoire. I must say, that I did not think that this would compare to the high end scanners that I own but I was absolutely naive! This bluetooth scanner is amazing. It’s better than every scanner I own with the exception of my Autel Maxisys. However, it’s capable of doing every task my Autel does. I have scanned a plethora of vehicles using this KINGBOLEN 7 ranging from GM, Chrysler, Ford and Honda and was able to meet all of my needs. The bluetooth feature allows you to move freely as you’re diagnosing the vehicle. The touch screen is sensitive to the touch for the command you choose and it’s lag free. The ergonomics of this bluetooth scanner is aesthetically pleasing and has a robust designed with great comfort as you’re using it. Overall, this is a must have for any mechanic who wants to advance his automotive tools with a more professional, affordable bluetooth scanner.

My friends and neighbors always hit me up too diagnose their cars. I am amazed at the level of data that Kingbolen scanner can deliver. Works on every car make and it’s a professional tool. Easy too setup and understand the features I especially like the touch screen application. Also easy too maneuver around the scan tool to get what your looking for from reading codes too bleeding brakes. Did I mention it’s a great price, I paid $450 for some Bosch Oreillys scanner a couple of years ago it doesn’t have the amount of features or the touch screen, I would highly recommend Kingbolen scan tool.

Can't give it 0 stars or I would. Bought it cause I saw a YouTube video where a user said it could program key fobs. I got it to program a couple of Mitsubishi Mirage fobs. Well I don't know about programming them. But it CAN definitely delete the fob. After it requested the registered key(s) to be erased to proceed with re-registration, it wouldn't register any of the keys, not even the original one. So I'm stuck having to have a locksmith program them or, worse, the dealership! Needless to say, it's being returned. If you intend to buy with the hopes of programming keys, look elsewhere. As for the other functions it supposedly does, I can't comment. Didn't try anything else. But other customers have quite a bit negative to say in that respect. Good luck. Save your money.
