Cheap FORSCAN compatible cable for Ford, Mazda and more.
I already have a Forscan compatible cables but wanted a second one for my traveling tool kit. Have never actually used this on a Ford but Forscan is also compatible with Mazda which is where I tested this. Already have the Forscan software, drivers, etc, installed on my laptop so it was a simple plug and play to get the adapter recognized. If you have never used this before you will need to install Forscan and possible a driver.I hooked this up to a 2013 Mazda 3 and it connected right away. Did a wheel speed sensor test as I already had this saved from a previous troubleshooting session. With the laptop running on the passenger seat I was able to move the vehicle and see the real time speed sensors read out the correct data. My original issue I had been troubleshooting was a bad wheel speed sensor on the driver front wheel. It turned out that those dirty rats had chewed the cable right where it goes out of the engine bay and down towards the wheel well. After patching the cables the sensor read correctly again. This cable works just as well as my other Forscan compatible one. I do wish it had a removable cable. If the cable ever gets damaged you will have to do some wiring work on it, rather then just replacing it with another cable. a USB female on the OBD portion of the unit would have been ideal.

Only works with forscan.
I was hoping this would work with PCMHammer, but it does not.The PC barely recognizes it. It only works with Forescan and that's only if you download their driver. The driver is really sketchy to find and makes it hard to trust the safety of the download.Maybe a bigger name brand with a dedicated website might feel safer. It works well with Forescan, but it does take a bit of work. The quality is decent and seems like it will last a while, unless you close the cable in the car door.
