Good tuners, one of the mounting nuts too big, but D’Addario fixed this!
The media could not be loaded. I bought 2 sets of these locking tuners to replace the existing non-locking ones on my Yamaha guitars. One set was fine, but the second one had issues (as described in my video). After changing the buttons with my original ivory Yamaha ones I started work on mounting these tuners, only to find that one of the mounting hex nuts supplied was too big!? This means that one of the 6 tuners cannot now be fixed onto the guitar head and that I need to source a chrome nut of that size. Disappointingly poor quality control from D'Addario...UPDATE: After my review above (and initially leaving only two stars), because I didn’t want to return the tuning machines (I’d already thrown away the box…) I contacted D’Addario support directly in the US via their website. I was not expecting much, and boy was I wrong!!! A very nice person from D’Addario contacted me back the same day, apologised for the issue, made sure I checked that it was indeed the nut rather the tuning post that was the issue and promptly posted 3 replacement nuts to me from the US to the UK, free of charge. Thank you D’Addario, very impressed!!!

Superb replacement for G-Force Tuners
After years of playing guitar, I thought it was time I bought a 'real' one: a Gibson Les Paul Studio. It looked great but just went out of tune all the time. It was the G-Force tuners: tune it, play a chord, tune it again, repeat. This constant frustration made this guitar nothing more than an expensive folly and far, far worse than the other sub £400 guitars I own. After a bit of investigation, I realised that this was not an unusual problem with G-Force tuners and a recommended fix was locking tuners. I was, to be honest, a bit dubious but I gave it a go and bought these Planet Waves Auto-Trim. They are superb. The guitar stays in tune and, as a bonus, the tuners trim the strings at the point of fitting them so there are no unsightly string ends to tidy up. They were a direct fit/replacement into the head stock, though I would advise drilling small holes for the screws: I just made a small hole and let the screw do the work but two of them broke. No matter: the nut holds them perfectly in place.Highly recommended.

wow.
I resisted trying these for a while. I have always seen no need. I play fixed bridge and with a whammy. They really are stable, and so quick to change strings. Scary. Easy(ish) to fit (see later) I can change strings quicker than make a coffee now. They retain tune well also. And of course they look kinda cool!! They only downside is fitting. I put mine on a reverse headstock and I'm right handed. So I mixed and matched a pair of 3x3 to make two inlines. one for a right hand and one for a left (or reverse) headstock. Pegs are slightly bigger (still look cool), but the fixture required some fine filing to fit accurately. This will not be an issue if you buy inline right handed, or for a 3x3 headstock.I can't recommend them enough really, go for it! I just wish Planet Waves made a left hand set.

Huge improvement
Added these to my Bigsby equipped Gibson SG and tuning stability was hugely improved, a good lubricated nut is essential but a set of these and a roller bridge are great for stable tuning. The screw hole is in the 6 o'clock position so lined up perfect with the old pegs holes, just had to do some minor sanding to get the shaft of the peg to go through the headstock but easy install and a great improvement to any guitar

Quality replacement for Gibson Les Paul
Fitted these to a Gibson Les Paul as the original Grovers were showing signs of wear, these are a direct fit and work very well, the finish is very good quality, the locking is strong and the tuning ratio allows for precise adjustments, the trim function works well, not sure why that is not standard on all tuners? I did have an issue where there was a missing nut for one of the tuners and i must say that the D'Addario support was second to none and they responded very rapidly with a replacement part, i believe that the sign of a very good company is how they deal with issues and this company is 100% with me.

Perfect locking tuners.
Absolutely superb locking tuners, dropped straight into my Takamine 340 deluxe with no drilling or filing needed. Well built and solid, used the existing screws as the screws supplied have a tendency to snap when screwing them in. The locking and auto trim mechanisms are a godsend when restringing your guitar, an absolutely perfect set of tuners and well worth the money spent. Can't recommend these tuners enough. 10/10.

Excellent
They went straight onto a Gibson es339 replacing the cheapy 'grover' tuners that came as stock. Easy, quick installation. Tuning is more stable and they look great.

Worth every penny
the only thing I didn't like about my Gibson SG, was the crappy off-green acetate machine-heads. When I finally got around to changing them, I thought it was worth checking these out - they look awesome, and they feel solid and hold their tuning well. The trimming mechanism works as advertised and it's great to have no extra strings sticking out
