Spear & Jackson 4053NB Elements Carbon Weedfork

I lost my favourite gardening fork (I actually think I dropped it in the green bin with the garden waste SOB!) And needed a replacement. I chose this as I like and trust the brand completely, having never let me down. An added bonus was that it was only £6.99 at the time of purchase. An absolute bargain when compared to garden centres locally. Amazon delivery was spot on as usual.and received the next day. Upon taking it out the packaging the first thing to notice is how light it is but not atal flimsy. The fork handle is wooden and sturdy, comfortable in my hands even after prolonged use which is a must for me. I struggle with bad joints and the shape of this fork doesn't aggitate or iritate them when I'm holding it tightly. It has a smooth finish to it. The handle has a hole with a piece of strap through for hanging which is a must for me as I always hang tools to let them air dry and prevent rust etc. Having had the fork a while now with constant use, ive regularly cleaned it and there is not a specknof discolouration or damage which is good news so I'd say its definitely resistant to rust and staining, shows a decent quality of material. When the strap deteriorates in a year I will just replace with more or a cable tie. I never buy tools without a hanging option now. The size is perfect for me personally, its not a short stubby one and has just the right length so its not uncomfortable and I'm using my bodyweight to push it down into soil. Space between the handle and fork head is ideal so no cloggy craggy build up of soil or leaves when digging. Fork head is spot on! I cannot abide heads that have no decent points to them, blunt and rounded is useless when digging and a waste of money. This has just the right amount of point allowing for a subtle sharpness that remains safe, at the same time slices easily into my hard soil areas without trouble. I can easily stab through lumps of soil with very little effort. It's a fabulous fork which I don't hesitate in recommending thanks to its ease of function and fabulous top notch quality. I'm thinking of grabbing a spare just incase I misplace it again!

Fantastic hand fork, exceptionally strong, easy to use and clean, slightly bigger than the usual hand fork and alot stronger! It has a 10 year guarantee on it, which is great! I've kept the label & photos incase of a problem. Good value, definitely recommend it!

can't do without it, hope I won't loose it

My parents always used Spear & Jackson tool for gardening but when I got wed, I was never able to afford them. I used one of my cheap ones recently & the prongs just buckled so I bit the bullet & invested in these S & J ones. Marvellous & well worth the price. As my parents always said, You have to pay for quality.

Overall decent fork for money - good handle to grip BUT it is not that sturdy & within a few days I can feel the fork twisting:/bending in wooden handle, so it is not good for loosening weeds in dry soil as the pressure will soon break it
