About 8 days since repotting my tiger ficus bonsai in this soil and it’s only lost 10-15 leaves and that’s with a root prune. I bought my ficus originally online and so glad I decided to get this product. The nursery peat soil was so saturated just like a sponge it would’ve probably in time gave root rot. Almost all the leaves are still nice and green, turgid, and upright — very little wilting or drooping which you can expect sometimes up to 50 or more leaves total fall so this stuff works wonders !!

Easy to use, not much dust. Small package but works for about 2-3 plants. I use in other plants not only bonsais. Did not bring bug eggs. Will buy again.

First off - this is good bonsai soil. I have used the all-purpose soil twice over the course of 3-4 years to repot my bonsai (two varieties of ficus, kept indoors). They have thrived, so I have no real complaint. However, I have noticed soil inconsistency in the bags themselves. The bag I had 2 years ago was much more fine and closer to dirt, the bag I ordered the other week was mostly small porous lava rock (perfectly fine and expected), but the second bag I ordered a day later of the same was more mixed with mulch/fertilizer (had a distinct manure smell). These were all the same all-purpose bonsai soil, but came out starkly different. Again, they all worked, but I would prefer better consistency in the same advertised product.

I ordered this bag of all-purpose bonsai soil from Tiny Roots for my Chinese Elm, and my tree is absolutely thriving. Before repotting, it was struggling with yellowing leaves and excessive leaf drop. Just two weeks after switching to this soil, the tree is bursting with bright green foliage and growing like crazy. The larger soil particles provide excellent drainage, which is especially important since I live in a rainy area. So far, I haven't noticed any mold growth or unpleasant odors—both great signs of a high-quality mix. Considering it's a specialty soil, the price was quite reasonable. Highly recommend for anyone looking to give their bonsai a boost.

I agree with other reviews this product is expensive for the amount you receive. I researched a lot and decided to buy a bag as I was going to make my own soil and use The Bonsai Tree Soil as one ingredient along with peat and a bit of potting soil. The mixture works perfectly. It is airy and drains very well. I have a lot of Bonsai Tree Soil left over and will be able to repot this plant in the future, several times. If this soil is used as an additive it is a good buy. The reason why I gave it five stars.

Customs officials would not allow this product into Canada. It was returned to the seller and my card refunded. Disappointing.

Love this dirt. I wish you got a bit more, only did one medium bonsai and was expensive, but looking at getting all the different stuff you need to mix sepertaly it would have been double. Recommend for your bonsai trees !
