They feel like plastic to me! I had one crack but I think it’s how I bent it awkwardly. I use one daily at lunch. No issues or weird tastes like paper straws. I didn’t want to bring a reusable to work everyday but I didn’t want to use plastic either. I think the price is reasonable and they are fairly sturdy so I will buy again.

Trying to make more earth friendly purchases - these straws are plant based and compostable. At some point we have to consider all the plastic that is going into the landfills and oceans. This is one of my choices to be a better human. Having said all of this, I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. It's a shame because it did help you see who has been around the longest and who is a trustworthy reviewer. I've been doing reviews for over 25 years with Amazon - nearly 6,000 reviews posted, viewed over 50,000 times, and over 24,000 likes. I pay for all my stuff, just like you do.

My kids love using straws but I hate throwing them in the trash, and washing the disposable ones seems pointless. These straws are great because I can throw them in the compost or recycling bin and I don’t feel guilty about straws sitting in a landfill. Great alternative to those yucky paper straws or the clangy metal ones.

The straws are a little short like others have mentioned but that's only when you are drinking from large commercial cups. I order out a lot and 2/3rds of the time they no longer include straws. These have been a life savor. They are sturdy, and do the job. I wouldn't know they were biodegradable if I didn't buy them myself.Update - my second order has not held up as well as my first order. I usually have to grab two straws because one is already falling apart. I wonder if I got an old box. I generally still like them, but I may try a different brand when I finish this box.

I've ordered these straws three times and they are excellent quality. It's great to be able to use them, not having to wash them like reusable straws, and still know that they aren't going to end up in the ocean. My favorite is the individually wrapped straws because they remain clean, even if you drop them on the floor.
