A useful, quite niche product
A useful piece of equipment to measure the performance of glass. This is marketed for tint installers where there are legal requirements. For example, in the UK front windows in vehicles must let at least 70% of light through. The sensor also measures the UV and IR wavelengths to indicate the heat rejection and skin protection provided. You need to download the Vsensor app from the Apple or Google Play stores to access the data. The sensor connects easily via Bluetooth providing W/m² for red, green and blue in the visible spectrum as well as UV and IR. The app also does the calculations for you so you can take a reading with a clear view and a second through the glass you are testing and it will calculate the percentage of light transmitted at different wavelengths. There is no information provided about calibrations, but if you are only interested in percentage difference that is not so critical.I have learnt that in my conservatory 82% of UV light is blocked compared with sitting in the garden in direct sun.At £53, I don't think this is too expensive for a piece of professional test equipment. Even if a professional installer has more complicated test equipment they may be interested in this to perform a quick check as it is so easy to use.
