Great Yoga Mat Overall
It's a great size. I'm 5'6" and some other yoga mats felt too short where my arms or feet would hang off the end when fully stretched out. I do not have that issue with this mat. There is a slight plastic odor when it is first out of the box but it aired out quickly during one use. The girp on top and bottom of the mat are great (no sliding). The guide lines are also really nice to make sure I'm centered and aligned properly. The thickness is good for a standard mat, but l usually add another thicker mat for just under my knees. The string to carry it is like a shoe lace which is odd but honestly works really well and is light. Overall, I'm very happy with this is yoga mat!

Great Mat at a Great Price!
This is my first yoga mat upgrade, and I am so happy I purchased it! My first yoga mat was a simple, very thin, cheap yoga mat. I was very new to the world of yoga and not sure how long I would stay engaged with it. Turns out, I loved it, and after two years, I purchased this one. The thickness and comfort was the very first thing I noticed. I had no idea how much of a difference a thicker mat like this could make. Yoga has never been more comfortable! The material feels a lot like those 'foam puzzle piece mats that kids play with,' so I do slide a little bit when I sweat, but the grip on the bottom side is a lot like a shoe pattern, so the mat itself is nonslip in that aspect. The guides on the mat are so helpful and keep me mindful when I start to drift too far forward or behind the mat. I know the color isn't important, but they really are beautiful! Do be sure to wash your mat down with a wet wash cloth; I didn't wash mine down right away because I was so excited, and my sensitive skin broke out due to whatever the material is treated with. I would definitely recommend this mat to anyone progressing to their next level of yoga, who want comfort and durability, at a great price! I did lots of research before I purchased this, and after using it for a couple months, I would definitely buy it again, but I don't think I'll need to because it is very well made and I can tell it will last me a long time!

Comfortable, nice length, great customer service!
I was really excited to receive my new yoga mat! I noticed a slight smell when unwrapping but not so much that it was a huge deal. I loved the color and design with the center line for balancing. The reason I gave 3 stars was simply because I couldn't gain much traction during poses. My hands were slowly slipping so I had to keep readjusting during poses (downward dog). The mat is otherwise very comfy and appears to be made well. This is only my 2nd time purchasing a mat. The first seemed to slip somewhat as well. I was just hoping this one would have been better at not slipping. Hope this review helps! Ps. There is no slip where contact is made with attire, just hands. As a follow up, customer service reached out to me to address my concerns, even so far as to ship a free yoga towel to cover my mat. I haven't tried the towel yet which fits over the mat like a pillow case but I'm willing to give that a try as well. Overall, I'm giving the mat 4 stars because of the size and thickness, also 5 stars for customer service! Tx Heathyoga

Great value: non-stinking non-slippy soft mat with clear reference points
I am a yoga teacher, and enthusiastic practicer, who got into yoga initially to recover from and then avoid further injuries for my rowing/sculling. I am now teaching a yoga for rowers course in France, and absolutely love these mats. I used one this morning, before getting a prod email to write this review, and had been thinking how pleased I had been with it, despite a scuff mark or two... They hardly smell (really really important for me not to have a stinky mat!); they do not slip when I am sweating and press quickly into the bridge (I have often slipped doing this or some other move on other makes of mats... I have yet to slip on the Heatyoga one & this gives me greater confidence during practice), and I love the reference points (great for becoming more aware of alignment and progress in practice). They are soft so when I fall (while doing a handstand or headstand variation) I have a cushioned/soft landing - well tested this morning, where I fell due to over-exuberancy in both ... this being tried & tested also gives me confidence to stretch further ... myself/my practice!!). I liked the mat so much, I bought another set for a group of people coming for classes (& shall get even more if I ever have bigger classes, or just to replace these when I wear them out!!) and far prefer them to all the other mats I have tried/have/bought (even compared with far more expensive ones). I like the bright turquoise colour/color one I originally just bought because it was cheaper, but really like it. It is one of a small number of things I shall be taking to India on my advanced teacher training at the start of next year. Can not recommend these enough. Good value. Great mats (oh & I have got absolutely nothing for saying this... this is honest & absolutely my feelings/thoughts. Enjoy your yoga & practice!!! :-)) E A Boileau, Bergerac, France & just posting my first yoga video of me doing a headstand (just while writing this review) & did not fall this time, but perhaps that is because I was not as ... exuberant as earlier in the day when the dawn chorus was in full blast & I had not just had a big lunch!

This will change your life or at least your yoga practice!
Very impressed! I practice yoga 3 times a week and my old mat was starting to die so I decided to treat myself to a new one. Bought this after doing a bunch of research and finding it to be the best at it's price point. It's thick and grippy, without a plastic/slippery feel. The underside of the mat has something akin to a tire tread pattern (slightly raised from the surface - only a mm or so). I am not sure what other reviews mean by it not having any grip. Mine has great grip on both sides actually and I'm really picky about grip usually. Of course, you will have a slippery mat for the first few weeks until you break it in as that is how all yoga mats are. Even my yoga studio's professional-grade mats are slippery for the first couple of weeks until we break them in. It has enough cushion, but not too much to throw you off balance. I don't do hot yoga and I'm between a beginner and intermediate level I would guess, so I can't speak for people at a higher level or with different needs. The best thing however are the instructional markings, they really do help massively during practice, poses can be aligned perfectly helping to ensure you are getting the most from your time on the mat. When I saw the markings in the picture I thought they might be uncomfortable but they're on the surface and you can't feel them at all. This mat is also slightly larger than normal which again is a huge bonus. So glad I spent a little extra. Am about to buy another for my husband as he now keeps using mine!

Good, but...
UPDATE: I've removed a star from my previous review. I do not recommend this mat for anyone with pets. It scratches SO EASILY. It even has some punctures just from her walking on it. She's a large breed but still only 60lbs. It looks like my dog clawed it up, but all she did was maybe stretch and drag her feet while I was doing yoga. She likes to join me ;) So yeah you could put it away between uses to protect it from more scratches like it suggests on the packaging, but I leave mine out because I use it every day and I have the space for it. I also leave it out to air it out because it STILL stinks like rubber. It's not as bad, but child's pose is not pleasant. Plus my dog's claws barely grazed it it while I was using it sooo... I couldn't have had it put away then. Pictures included. I'm going to keep using it because we've literally marked it as our own, but I don't expect this to be a long lasting mat and I wish I went with a better known, higher quality brand. I probably would have saved money in the long run. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I’ve been using a cheap Gaiam mat for years but finally decided to upgrade since I’ve been doing yoga at home more regularly. My main complaint with my old mat was my hands sliding in down dog. So I bought this after seeing it in a list of best grippy mats. WELL let me share some pros and cons. PROS: - grippier than my Gaiam mat - I didn’t know I wanted the alignment marks until I had them. They’re really helpful! - I like that it’s longer than a regular mat - it’s almost twice as thick as my Gaiam mat and I was concerned it would negatively affect my balance, but it’s actually the opposite! I have no choice but to do my yoga on high pile carpet and it actually helps me stabilize much more than the Gaiam 3mm mat. It provides a flatter foundation. - helps protect my bad knees because it is cushier - good price compared to other mats marketed as grippy CONS - my hands still slide in down dog, but it’s a little better - I read washing it can help so I tried and it maybe helped a teeny bit, but not much - when laying on my back the grippiness sometimes feels like it’s pulling my hair - stinks like rubber even after I washed it - not fun in child’s pose. I had to cover my nose with my shirt. - scratches very easily - my dog stretched over it and barely dragged a nail on it and it now has a big ol scratch So....I’m going to keep it for the pros and the price, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Thanks for hanging in there for this long review!
