Kestrel Elite Weather Meter with Applied Ballistics and LiNK

Great bit of kit. If you are into long distance shooting in all weathers, this is for you. It's not cheap, but if you need this more than an app, you'll know.

Overall great product. Needs some additions/details on the ballistics part (ex. scope values) On the other hand, although the delivery was accurate, an additional cost appeared later on. The "FREE UK delivery" stated, finally has an additional £49 import tax that has to be paid to FedEx since the product is imported to EU.

Kestrel 0857ALBLK Elite Weather Meter with Applied Ballistics & Bluetooth Link, Black I purchased a Kestrel Elite unit with Applied Ballistics and Bluetooth link to use during a Precision Rifle Level 2 training course at the top-knotch "Rob Furlong Marksmanship Academy", RFMA, in Hanna, Alberta. Each student shooter is required to bring a Kestrel for the course and the expert instructors there, Rob and Maury, are absolute masters of the Kestrel. During the RFMA course, I was taught how to use a Magnetospeed chronograph and the Kestrel to calibrate the muzzle velocity of the ammunition I brought along (140 gr Hornady ELD-M in 6.5 Creedmoor) to shoot from my rifle (a stock Tikka T3X CTR). I entered the average muzzle velocity into the Kestrel, captured fresh environmental data and then fine-tuned my riflescope turret settings for elevation and windage within a few shots fired on the 1000 Meter target. After plugging the new 1000M turret setting elevation into the Kestrel, I had custom Applied Ballistics information and turret settings for all ranges from100M to 1000M and beyond. Other shooters in the course who brought along their .338 Magnums, used data from their Kestrels to hit targets out to 2,200 Meters. After learning how to competently use my new Kestrel weather meter paired with the Kestrel smartphone app at Rob Furlong's course in Hanna, I have gained total confidence in my ability to accurately engage targets well beyond any range I had previously envisioned.
