Beetlejuice Tarot Deck & Guide (Tarot/Oracle Decks)

By the gods…I have to say that this deck is THE BEST tarot deck I have ever purchased of any movie/tv affiliation. Pros: To start- EVERY card (major and minor arcana) has a character or scene from the movie. Most film/tv decks skimp on the art because it’s too much work and just give you the good illustrations in the major arcana only. (Like the Nightmare Before Christmas and Hocus Pocus decks)They then fall back on stock symbols for the minor arcana like a card with seven swords or five wands pictured on it. Lazy. But THIS deck has brought absolutely gorgeous and nostalgic flair to EVERY SINGLE CARD. Bravo. There are labels naming every card and they are all so pretty.The illustrator created gorgeous illustrations of the characters and included copious scenes from the film in EXCELLENT detail. Speaking of detail: the writer of this deck, who matched the scenes to the meaning of the tarot cards, is not only an insightful lover of tarot but also an obvious FAN of the Beetlejuice film. I’m so impressed by how the writer chose certain scenes and even single characters to match the meanings of the tarot. I’m a huge fan of the movies and was belly laughing at the connections the writer made. Like from the most obscure character to Beetlejuice himself, they were able to make links! SO creative but still accurate to the original meaning of the card. Well done! Con: The guidebook is so well written and actually BRILLIANT when reading the connections between film scene and card. There are Beetlejuice quotes EVERYWHERE! It’s so cool. I only wish it were an actual booklet and not a fold out paper. But it’s a small thing considering how awesome this deck is. The con here is that I WANT MORE-this deck is too good! I understand that a book would’ve probably meant a bigger box/ more money to add the illustrations to each page. I hope this deck kicks off and gets the recognition it deserves. Maybe in another run the creator might upgrade it with a book and I’ll TOTALLY be buying another set. 10/10 MUST HAVE FOR ANY BEETLEJUICE FAN! Update: I see the negative reviews regarding the guidebook pamphlet- some say it’s impractical and hard to use because you have to unfold the whole thing like a map. But that’s not true. The way it’s folded/creased is strategic. You just unfold one portion at a time and it creates a kind of row. The suits stay in the same row and all you do is fold it over to view the next row- it keeps it compact and legible. Do I prefer a book? Absolutely. Is this kind useless? Absolutely not. Just different.

They are a gift but the cards look exciting

As a seasoned Tarot reader and Beetlejuice fan, I had to order this deck! The art is fantastic! This is a great deck that leads you to look deeper and work with your intuition to read. It's also nice to know that this is NOT a pip deck. There are images on all the cards that guide you into the Tarot journey - from Major Arcana to each of the Minor Arcana. Sometimes, you stumble a great deck with incredible images on the Major Arcana, only to find that the Minor Arcana is glossed over. Not this deck! Rest assured that each card has a relevant image.

Love the artwork, but I hate the guidebook. It’s like a paper map. 😣

Casey Gilly (writer) and Abigail Larson (illustrator) has done such an amazing job with this deck. It's absolutely PERFECT!!! Each card is illustrated with a character or scene from the original movie. I was able to look at each card an automatically know what scene it was from and how the meaning agned with traditional tarot. The cardstock is great. The Guide is a fold out which is a bit strange but it has clear meanings that are easy to understand and apply. All the spreads are my absolute favorite of all time. They are practical and useful. I have never had a favorite tarot until this deck was created. If you are a fan of the original movie, you NEED this deck. To Casey and Abigail, thank you so much for this. Also, please please please do a FULLY ILLUSTRATED tarot deck for the TV show "SUPERNATURAL". It's my absolute favorite show but another creator made a version with pip cards for minors - YUK! First, the illustrations are beautiful as is all of Abigail Larson's work. I was so excited when these were announced that I ordered right away. Even knowing about the things I didn't like, I'd still order it, so this was really hard to rate. The choices for most of the cards were great! I'm a huge fan of the original film, so I understood the references (except for two that seemed really random). Some were a little confusing, but with some creative thinking, they worked. If you know the movie like the back of your hand, you'll appreciate the references. Some of them made me chuckle and think differently about the card's meaning, which I loved. The box arrived in great condition, but some of the cards had creases at the very bottom from printing, which is really annoying because it distracted me. At the bottom, some of the cards had the black scraped off a little. This is easily missed if you aren't looking too closely, but when it comes to reading tarot, the point is to look closely. I don't like there being damages, even slight, on my cards, but I'll deal with it. Oh my god, whoever thought a giant foldout guide book was a good idea needs to stay away from tarot card set design. The guide 'book' is a huge, awkward foldout with the 'front' and 'back' of the folded guide being the same material as the cards, sturdy thick cardstock, while the rest of the guide is paper. This is not practical or really usable while trying to read the cards, which is a shame. I like to gain my own understanding of the cards, as I've been practicing for many years, but at times I like to take the creator's meaning from a specific deck if it's heavily themed like this for added insight and fun. This design choice just made it a huge PIA. Overall, I love the cards and the box design, and the art. There is enough room in the box so the cards fit loosely and won't bow over time, and I'll be using these a lot because the original Beetlejuice movie is my favorite of all time. It's very close to my heart. However, I might have to order another copy in the future and hope to get a deck without the creases at the bottom of the cards. I wanted to rate this deck a four star at least, but the guide design and defects on what I received knocked it down to three.

Beetlejuice Tarot lives up to the hype, it really re-imagines the classic movie into the tarot perfectly, its an all round well made fandom type deck, beautiful purple colour tones, it retains the macabre magic of the movie, it reads like a charm, it doesn't disappoint, it's fun but also works extraordinarily well on its own merit as a deck.

A highlight of the guidebook is its thick, sturdy paper that gives it a robust feel. Just a heads-up, though—those creases may tear if it’s used too often, so handle it with care to keep it in top shape! Overall, this deck is a total joyride and brings a refreshing spin compared to traditional tarot decks. For Beetlejuice fans, it’s an absolute must-have! With just a few tweaks to the guidebook, it could elevate the experience even more. If you’re a fan of the movie and craving something unique, trust me—you’ll find this deck as captivating as I do!
