I have used this on 6 of the 2 pound blocks of cheeses without wire breakage. It cuts even so I can easily choose what thinness I want. Also has a grid on it to line up exact cuts. I love this little cheese cutting board tool. One thing I'll admit is the wire that came with it broke on the first cut but it comes with 2 extra wires. Would have been easier to put new wire on if the 2 extras didn't ship bent. The 2 wires are bent to fit in a holder that's provided when shipped. After installing second wire I had no troubles at all. Having said all that I have to rate this 5 star because it's a great design and works well.

Cheese for my husband is like cookies for the Cookie Monster - he eats a lot of it for snacks and he's not picky. This cheese cutter (I got the stainless steel version) is perfect to allow me to keep him well-stocked with cheese treats. The cutter is small, so it won't accommodate much more than the chunk cheese you get in the dairy aisle of the grocery store. It won't let you cut large cheese wheels; it doesn't always make super-precision cuts. But, it does cut easily and reliably through common, semi-firm and firm cheese varieties - cheddar, Swiss, gouda, provolone, Colby, Havarti, etc. For my purposes it's perfect. I can quickly cut reasonably uniform cubes and wedges of cheese for my friendly neighborhood Cheese Monster more conveniently than I can with a knife. It cleans up simply with soap and hot water and hasn't tarnished or rusted. Well worth the price for hubby's happiness.

This cheese slicer is well made. The stainless steel is easy to keep clean. The wire works well. The only thing I wish for now, is that I’d known about the usefulness of a metal piece across the bottom or top. This design encourages the cheese to scoot along the metal “board” and causes you to push upwards to get a clean slice.

This is absolutely ingenious! We eat block cheese and cutting it with a knife is ridiculously silly and time consuming and makes a mess. With this slicer, it’s fast and simple and the cheese is evenly cut. It comes with extra wires, but I can’t imagine breaking the one on it. It’s strong.This is one of my favorite purchases from Amazon and that’s saying something after as many years as I’ve been ordering. I don’t like to think of the money I’ve spent!!😳

The media could not be loaded. This cheese slicer slices through cheese with so much ease. It is well made and easy to clean. Comes with an extra wire. Safe to use and makes slicing a block way easier than using a knife. Easy to store away.

This product is exactly as described by the seller. We bought it for the purpose of slicing larger blocks of cheese and it does so very nicely - making it possible to get uniform cheese slices that aren’t thick on one end and thin on the other.

I really like this slicer! It's on a heavy duty stainless steel base and it's large enough that I don't feel like I'm playing with a miniature. It does a really great job of slicing. I wished I had ordered it sooner.
