The right amount of robot
Our floors are much cleaner now that we run this machine every few days. Because we have it, we are mindful of cords, cat toys and other items on the floor that could tangle it up, so its presence also kind of enforces a level of tidiness. This machine does not learn quickly, it is not using satellites and cameras to map the shifting topography of our home, and I am happy with that. What it does is wander from room to room in an apparently random fashion, and it always finds dirt. It eventually seems to go over the entire floor. We have two cats who find it loud and unpleasant, but also fascinating. They stalk it from covert locations, calculating the balance of the predator/prey relationship. Someday, they may attack it, but if that happens, I think the Roomba will survive.Cons:Somewhat loud - It is as loud as a normal vacuum cleanerNeeds supervision - It can't be left running home alone, because it gets stuck under furniture from time to time. It sometimes makes mistakes that could endanger its life. I block it from entering areas where it could fall off of a cliff, because in spite of the cliff detection feature, I think it might very well fall off a cliff if given the chance.Only one phone allowed - The phone app seems to allow for only one phone per user, so only one member of the household can command the vacuum from the phone app; not a big deal for me because I just push the button on the top of the Roomba and it takes off.Pros: It vacuums the house frequently. I am never going to do that.It has the work quality of maybe a ten year old who was asked to vacuum the house--but unlike a ten year old, it is persistent. The suction is good, it gets diirt out of deep rugs and it does well in the corners. It is able to get over thresholds and it is fine around our cat dishes- pushes them a little bit but then backs away.

So far, so good!
My review is for the mopping combo. I will edit my review if something changes, but so far I’m impressed! I’m not new to Roombas, but this is my first mopping vacuum. I had avoided them in the past due to the poor reviews, but the price point on this unit made me give it a try.Wow…. First off, it’s a no frills model: no handle on top, no light on the charging base, and no battery indicator on the unit itself. It also came without instructions, which I had to search the internet to find.Set up was really simply. Basically, no assembly required. You DO need the app to set functions on the unit and go between just vacuuming and vac/mop. The set up was a bit of a pain, but I’m not tech savvy. The app does allow you to customize your level of clean and set how long the unit runs for, which is nice. Also be aware that you aren’t supposed to use detergents or disinfectants in the water tank. I suspect this is because the spray nozzles are small and could easily clog. I just used a teaspoon of a common floor cleaner and plan to alternate between that and plain water. Now to the good part… using it. I have an all tile floor house that gets mopped WAY less than it should. lol. I set this thing off in one room to see how it would do. It did an excellent job of covering the entire surface and shut down once it had mopped the whole room. I rinsed the pad out afterwards, and the pad was REALLY dirty. I put it in several other rooms with the same result. It cleaned for about two hours before needing to be recharged. It did about half of my house. When I rinsed the pad again, it was filthy! So, yeah, it actually mops. When I went to empty the dust bin, it was FULL! So yes, it vacuums too. It was a bit awkward to empty the bin compared to my old roomba, but they give you a brush to help. And I rinsed out the water tank and dried everything off, so there was a bit of effort in unit maintenance when it was done. So, in summary. This is NOT a deep cleaning machine that requires zero maintenance. But, it is a solid unit to tidy up and give your floors and wipe down. And if you are like me and never want to mop, it’s WAY better than nothing. And for the price point, it does a solid job at floor maintenance.

Worth it in most cases
Works good as a vacuum for not super heavy jobs. It is strong and will even push small light items around so be mindful of that. It is good about learning your space after a few days and I like that you can set automatic routines and that it takes itself “home” when done or if battery gets low. The mop part is a waste of time so I’d just get the regular one. It works good for pet hair. You do have to clean it pretty much after every cleaning because it doesn’t have a big chamber but it’s worth it if you have pets or vinyl, hardwood or other bare floors. It does go over thresholds and will do carpet but works better on bare surfaces. Only gave 4 stars because rhe mop part is sort of a waste.
