Thermo-Tec 14130 24" X 48" One Sided Thermo Guard Flame Retardant

I originally purchased this to replace the insulation on my Jeep Wrangler when adding a new floor liner between the passenger and driver side of the center console. It was pretty easy to work with although you need a strong cutter or sharp scissors as the cloth material is pretty dense and can be hard to work with unless you have sharp tools. After having some issues with heat soak I decided to wrap some of this around my fuel rail and the troublesome injector and it appears to have helped reduce the affect of ambient heat on the fuel line as the rough idle and misfiring has stopped. The temperature has been around 70F outside so it will be interesting to see if I run into any issues over the summer with it. It also appears to have slightly improved fuel economy ever so slightly (nothing significant, perhaps much less than half a mile per gallon). Pros: Relatively inexpensive. One roll should be more than enough for most vehicle/home applications. Ease to work with (comes thick but you can simply reduce the amount of fiber by pulling a part from the backing) Extremely high temperature threshold (1500F~) Cons: Need to be creative with how you apply it. Does not come with an adhesive side but get some double sided tape, aluminum tape, or zip ties and you should be golden.

I was skeptical when I bought it. I am using this item to insulate my vinyl fence from the back of my pool heater. When the heater is on, both the heater and fence are too hot to touch. The fence is 2 inches from the back of the heater and with the heat shield in place, there is no change in temperature of the reflective surface of the shield. It and the fence are actually cool. Unbelievable! The product is great. Need to see how it stands up to the summer weather but would buy again if it doesn't weather well.

Seems to work well, its tought stuff to cut to a specific shape. I guess my best results were with a razor knife, making one or two cuts than a new blade. Its not that it is so cut reisitant, but its just hard to trim and to cut. I glued it under a hood with spary on conatct cement and its working well.

We bought this to insulate the rv from the hot FL sun. Seems to work well for heat and cold. A little hard to fit since the windows have cornice boards above and on the sides. The insulation is fairly thick, which is good so it was awkward to wedge in the window. I'd definitely recommend this.

Totally awesome. Used it to shield a wood automan close to a wood stove. Prior to the shield, It was about 8 inches from the piping hot wood stove... And was so hot on the inside of the wood fixture that I was afraid the contents would either be damaged and/or the exterior might catch fire. Now - the surface deflects so much heat - it's not even warm to the touch - inside is cool to touch. Heat is deflected into our apartment and I can see 100 more uses for the left over material or re-use of the patch cut out in the autuman. Seriously great heat reflector.

Product came excessively well packaged. It is a dark gray color and not the pink in the seller photo. Of course, this has no effect on performance. Cut to size and adhered to sheet metal housing with aluminum HVAC tape. Dimension was 24x48.25". Was easily cut with household scissors. Aviation/tinners snips also worked. Razor blade and straight edge cut the foil easily but left a tattered edge on the felt.

I bought this to use on the far side of a heat shield for the under seat muffler on the 06 CBR1000RR. I have a Bazzaz tuner that resides under there that I was worried about getting too hot (there's an air gap between the module and the heat shield but it gets pretty hot under there.) After 20 minutes on the track I could smell melting plastic. When I removed the tail section body work I found a major melted mess. If this would have been in direct contact with the exhaust I would understand. Being that it was on the other side of a heat shield I was not very impressed. This would likely work well for sound and light heat (floor boards) but if your trying to insulate something that is a higher temp look elsewhere.

My wife gave me an air frying oven for my birthday. The only problem is that the instructions indicated that the oven should not be operated under a cabinet, which makes sense due to the high heat generated by the oven. We had two options: pull the oven out during use to prevent damage to the upper cabinet, or purchase this item to insulate the bottom of the cabinet. I chose the second option, using this product to insulate the heat between the oven and the under side of the cabinet. The product was easy to install, using scissors, and it solved my problem. As a result, the underside of the wooden cabinet is insulated from the heat from the oven.
