These things are awesome

Needed to strengthen the newel posts on my front porch. Ran 2X material on bottom tread 90 degrees to the post and tied all the stringers together. One on each post and the posts are almost unable to be moved vs flopping around before. Well worth the $20 in parts. Also have used a set to add significant strength to a pony wall in my attic. These are not yet required by code in my area for deck supports, so none of the lumber yards carried them, amazon had them to my door in 2 days.

needed something to keep a beam from pulling out of a joint on an old house. I was able to modify this to do the job. I would call the thing "medium duty", as the metal is not quite as thick as i would have liked, but any thicker and it would have been harder to modify it like i did to fit into a tight space.

It's been a month, and the deck is still standing.
