Excellent Camera – Great Value Like All EZVIZ Products
I’ve been using several EZVIZ cameras for a while, and they’ve always impressed me with their performance and value for money. The EZVIZ Wired Floodlight Security WiFi Camera is no exception – it’s an excellent addition to my outdoor security setup. The 1080P video quality is crystal clear, and the 2000 lumens floodlight is bright enough to light up my entire driveway. The Starlight Colour Night Vision is especially impressive – even in low light, the camera captures detailed, colored footage. The PIR motion detection is very responsive, and I get real-time alerts without any delays. I love the two-way talk feature, which adds an extra layer of security when I’m not at home. It’s also weatherproof, which is a must for the UK weather. Installation was straightforward, and the hardwired setup means I never have to worry about battery life. The fact that it supports both SD card and cloud storage gives flexibility in how you store footage. Overall, just like my other EZVIZ cameras, this one offers incredible value and performance. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for reliable outdoor security.

Good - once you get your head around the app
Solid unit, seems robust and well-built. Back comes off so it can be separately screwed to the wall - I used better plugs and screws than the ones that were supplied due to weight of unit. Wiring in is easy, especially if you have an existing light fitting as I did. SD card cover has a couple of grub screws so that is easy to fit and card clicks into place. I wasn't desperately impressed with the quality of the rubber grommet the cable passes through, but it should do the job and is fairly well protected by the base unit. The front unit attaches with two bolts and hex nuts (7mm spanner from memory) - be careful not to over-tighten these. Commissioning was straightforward, found the WiFi easily and initial set up via the app was simple. The trickier parts are understanding the difference between the different alarm/ alert states. These are Intense, Soft and Silent. Intense will sound an audible alarm on motion detection and lights come on (if dark enough) - this also triggers an alert to your phone via the app/ email. This is fine if you want the audible alarm - I didn't. Soft emits a single beep (with lights) on motion detection and will generate an alert. Silent makes no sound (lights still function) on motion detection, this also generates an alert. The second issue is one of sensitivity - the default setting I found to be too high and generated a lot of middle of the night recordings just due to rain and wind. Since dialling down the sensor this seems to have improved. The final trick is enable RTSP access (if you require it) which is switched off by default. This allows streaming to a media player such as VLC and gives you some flexibility if you don't want to subscribe to the cloud plans (which are not particularly cheap). It's important to note there are two settings menus in the app. One you access by tapping on the live cam view and then the 50p shaped icon. The other you access via the account picture (top left) in the app. You can't change the light on duration (you can change intensity) and you can also edit the motion detection area to mask off some areas, which is a useful feature. Overall it's a good unit, documentation is a bit lacking and you'll need to tweak some settings but it's worth the effort. Update one year on - this has developed a fault where the light is strobing constantly which drives the neighbours - and me - mad. To stop it I have had to turn off the security lights - kind of defeats the object really. I've taken this up with EzViz who - after the usual reset and power off/ power on nonsense - insisted it was due to a firmware update. I will be honest and say I refused to believe them but - a further firmware update was issued about two weeks later and it resolved the issue.

Not waterproof! Trips circuit breaker!
Update after 3 months: After 3 months my Ezviz light/camera started to trip my circuit breaker every time it rains. Even though I sealed all around the outside of the unit where the light's housing meets the bricks, water still got in. Unfortunately, there are many ways water can penetrate this light/camera: through the lens, microphone, speaker, motion sensor, SD card slot, or the 2 lights. After removing the light I found the leak was coming from where the camera is connected to the body of the unit. So I completely removed this light and installed a standard LED. Amazon was great with the return. I rang them and explained what happened and they sent me a prepaid postage label. Apparently Amazon handles the guarantee for ezviz products rather than ezviz themselves. So I bought an ezviz battery operated doorbell camera instead. This way the camera cannot trip my circuit breaker if it develops a leak! Original review: The best thing about Ezviz is that they don't force you to buy cloud storage. If you're happy to install an SD card inside the camera and store the videos in the camera, then the only cost is the camera and the SD card. The app is free. You can adjust the brightness of the lights, which affects both when you turn on the lights and for when the motion detection is triggered (there are not independent settings for each mode). Also, you can link the light motion detection to the camera so the camera starts recording and sends you a notification (if enabled) if motion is detected. You can adjust the distance of the motion detection, but, unlike other Ezviz models, there is NO "intelligent detection" (this camera cannot tell the difference between a person, animal, car, etc) and you CANNOT set "detection zones". The only motion detection setting is a choice from 0 to 6. You must use the app to turn on the light. At full power the lights are very bright! I was worried about disturbing my neighbours if the motion detection went off at night, so I set my lights to 50%. As for the camera, it's amazing. Please note this model is 1080p, not 4k, but still plenty good. It has a wide angled lens which allows you to see a lot and the night vision is fantastic. You can use your phone from anywhere in the world to view the recordings or watch the live feed (provided your phone's internet connection is fast enough). Some reviewers said the light's motion detection cannot be linked to the camera, but I can confirm you can link it under the "Light settings". My guess is that Ezviz updated the app and/or firmware to make this possible. Also, the app and firmware could be updated at some point to add more features and improve the interface, but that's certainly not guaranteed. Installation was easy. Remove the old light, but before you disconnect the wires, take a photo so you can note which colour wires from your house get connected to the camera. My house has 4 cables going to the outdoor light but only 3 were used. Then I filled the old mounting holes with plumber's epoxy, then used the back of the light to mark the location of the 2 new holes, then used a masonry drill bit to make new holes, inserted the anchors, connected the power cables, then screwed on the light. My only complaint is that the light's base cannot hold much cable, so you may have to shorten the lead.

Dont update the firmware
This camera unit fit the bill for me on the face of it. My first one worked for24 hours, then the firmware update ruined it. After waiting for a reply from ezviz technical, NO REPLY, i returned the unit as faulty for a replacement. The nee one arrived thanks to Amazon. The unit works as it should, but the night vision gives a totally washed out image of anyone up close. So, limited use. It wont read a number plate at night either or have any proper detail at the bottom of my one car long driveway. So, if you are expecting a full hd image dont buy this one. But for a general cctv, ok. Dont rely on the ezviz support as they are hopeless.
