And the madness continues...
"Fate brought us together for a reason; there are no accidents. Everything that happens in our lives leads us to a greater destiny, even if we don't always understand the purpose."I cannot get enough of this series, I'm seriously lost in this world & I love it!! The story is so in depth & there is so much going on, it's almost impossible to lay it out there. Instead, I'm just gonna go over some of my favorite parts. All of our favorite people are back. Silver is continuing to grow into her new life with the guidance of her Ghuardian Justus. The relationship between these two is amazing. I'll admit, after Sterling I held hope they would end up together, but they have become so much more than I could have hoped for. They definitely still have their bumps in the road. It's clear Justus is stuck in his ways, he's very old fashioned & this reflects in his treatment of Silver as a female. It also become clear she thouroghly enjoys pushing his buttons & riling him up. It gets hilarious at times.'On a few occasions when I was upset with him, I pulled a shirt from my arsenal. There were three particular T-shirts with vulgar slang written on them that made the vein in his forehead poke out. It was a cute little vein, and I grew fond of seeing its public appearance while I walked behind him like a parade of humiliation.'Her relationship with Simon is a friggin riot!! Even though he still flirts with her outrageously & they care for one another, they have firmly settled into the friend zone. But Simon is still Simon, which provided some good times.'By the fifth outfit, I caught on to Simon's little game. He dressed me in scandalous outfits -knowing I would'nt approve- just so he could file the image in his "mental picture drawer" for later recall. Cheeky bastard.'Adam is still very much a part of her life, but the dynamics of their relationship have shifted a bit since he has become Mage. She still feels responsible for the way his life turned out, but he's happy & is coming into his own as a Mage. We get to spend some more time getting to know some characters that were minor until now, like Knox & Sunny as well as Adam's creator Novis. And then there is Logan Cross. Oh my sweet raging hormones Logan! What a fine fine addition to the story. This series has become a buffet of hott guys. Even though their introduction to each other is less than ideal, seeing their relationship shift & change was seductive (however, I'm still on the fence with how I feel about that. I KNOW, I KNOW, don't shoot me!!)"Never settle. Make the men in your life run for it; if they tire of the chase, then they're not worth your affections.""What if someone keeps chasing?""Then you will tire and be caught. And that's called settling."Action, surprises & chaos ensue as Silver is still being hunted by the unknown benefactor. With so many people watching over her she begins to feel suffocated & fights to get some of her independence back. Taking matters into her own hands generally lands her in some form of trouble."I gave my word to your Ghuardian that I would watch over you because he said you have a tendency to skip right into the arms of trouble."It was a wild ride. You never know what to expect, some of the most horrific villians out there will keep you on the edge & silly things like sleep take a back seat. I'm tired but so very ready to see what happens next.

Twist? More Like Unraveled
I am surprised at all the five star ratings, especially for Twist, as opposed to Sterling, the first book of the Mageri Series. It makes me wonder if the reviewers have read books by Jeaniene Frost or Karen Marie Moning which have riveting characters and great dialogue. Book 1 of the series caught my attention because it had a bit of the Night Huntress (Cat & Bones) feel from one of the best series in this genre by Ms. Frost. Not so for Book 2.The main problem with Twist is there is nothing likable about Silver (Zoe), the main character. Although Silver has received extensive training and great advice, she continually falls into the "too stupid to live" category. Sorry, but if you refuse to stay somewhere safe when you are a novice OR you demonstrate worse judgement than a five year old and open the door to someone you don`t know, maybe you don`t deserve to have your friends risk their lives for you. If Ms. Dark had portrayed Silver as a bit of a knucklehead, then the stupid behavior would be expected. The problem is that the reader is continually told how Silver wants to be independent, when she is any but this. As well, when the other characters describe her bravery, it generally sounds false because of the majority of her actions are juvenile. She is surrounded by fantastic males who have kept her safe, trained her and risked their lives for her. She repays them all very poorly by being ungrateful, insensitive or rude. Adam was the human in Silver, who found Zoe and cared for her. This good Samaritan showed her nothing but kindness in the first book and actually lays his life on the line for her in this book. Her treatment of him is nothing short of shabby and there is a definite lack of empathy towards him.Justus agrees to be her "Ghaurdian" and turns his quiet world upside down to accommodate and mentor Silver. She complains about all the rules he implements, disobeys and lies to him, as well as putting him in awkward situations with Mageri who are more senior to him. At one point even Silver says that she should have been grateful for everything he had done for her, but it wasn`t enough. Nothing is ever enough for Silver. "Every lesson he taught was invaluable, even if I was too childish to understand."Even Logan, the love interest in Twist is treated with disdain for most of the book. After complains about there being nothing sweet in the house Justus offers: "I could go pick up some donuts. Just say the word." I shot him a frosty glare. "Why don`t you pick up a rash while you`re at it?"It is hard to get a take on the main male characters. Adam has a military background, but accuses Silver of having the mouth of the trucker when she says the word d@mn. Knox was introduced as Adam`s hulking friend in the first book. After pulling a disappearing act in Silver, he shows up in Twist acting like an idiot: blushing and knocking over a table when a pretty woman enters the bar, literally running away when she touches him in the street, holding the coffee pot upside down because he had never made coffee. "That first feathery brush made his knees lock up. She was insatiable." Okay, they have had one kiss and she`s insatiable???? I assumed at this point that Knox is the oldest virgin in the military, but even that was not the case. The whole sad childhood bit seems lame given what Knox has done with his life since becoming an adult. One of the alpha males in the book makes a puppet out of an airplane vomit bag for Silver. Would you really do this for someone you saw as a strong female? Some of the dialogue is just "GAK" worthy. "Doesn`t he wish? Romeo can`t seem to catch that fish." "You rhymed, she smirked." GAK! "I`ve watched you staring at this donut. Are you going to eat it, or make love to it with those fetching eyes." Eye rolling from reader. "I don`t care about love, because love never cared about me." Oh brother.... "I want you to be my girl. You deserve better, but I can`t get you out of my head." I`m pretty sure if you look up "stilted" in the dictionary, you`ll see this dialogue as a definition. "Easy there, hoss. No need to snap your cap." What???? There is definitely some kind of hang up with swearing in this novel. "Pleasure crashed through her and she cried out. Knox did too -- a whole string of profanities buried in a pillow that would have to go to church and be sprinkled with holy water before it could be used again." At this point Knox apologized for having sworn during sex. Silver: "I cringed at the vulgarity about to pour from my lips - pu$$y."It is hard to get excited about a book (or a series) where the main character causes the reader more frustration than pleasure.

OH MY LORD!!
if I had to describe this book in one word it would be "unputdownable", so beware, whilst reading this book, you will do nothing, except read, and if you do actually put the book down, you will be thinking about how soon you can pick it back up.I have fell in love, gosh it's like Twilight again... not that they are anything like each other, but, the feeling you get, it's there! You cannot skim this book, at all, you will want to read every single letter on the page, just because you don't want to miss anything, also there is simply no part of this book that you want to skim through, every part is well thought out, and just sucks you in.Move over Edward, Logan's in the house and I want him! This book HAS to be made into a film!!

Another brilliant installment
Having been captured by the first book, I thoug, surely the sequel cannot be as good or interesting, as the first book introduces bright characters, and spins a different view of the world we know with mages and magics. However, yet again, another twist pardon the pun, on shifts and other creatures of the night. New species with different aspects of things we know from other fantasy stories. Romance deepens and we see Silver finding an unlikely person to fall for. She gets into more trouble, rekindles old friendships and starts new ones, fighting new battles all while retaining that humanity that other immortals seem to want to stamp out of themselves. Wonderful read, couldn't put it down. Read it all in one sitting. A must read from a new author. Thank you dannika! X

Sexy fantasy.
In a world where different breeds to humans exist. Hidden among human kind they have their own rules. When one of their numbers breaks the rules retribution is required. One such breed is the Mage who are central to this series. It tells of friendships, and love. It is story in which one can escape reality and just believe there is more to our world and become completely absorbed . I have found this series so far compelling and can't wait to see what happens next

Even better than Sterling
After reading Sterling I immediatly read Twist. I thought Sterling was good, I could believe how good Twist was! I really connected with Dannika's characters in this book, especially Logan (I want one of them!) I had to re-read it straight away to make sure I hadn't missed anything because speed read it the first time, it was so good! If you want a book to leave you with that warm, loved up, fuzzy feel, this is it! So looking forward to her next two books, which on her blog (<...>) she says she's wrote and is now in the review and editing process, thank goodness, I need to find out what happens next to the enchanting, hard-headed Silver! Well done Dannika and thank you for giving me some characters to care about!

Mageri Series
I’ve gone about this all wrong! I was recommended the ‘Crossbreed Series’ on my Amazon Kindle recommendations, so I read that first - Brilliant series! Decided to see what else I could read & realised one of the main characters in Crossbreed is in the Mageri Series too. I’ve since found Dannika Dark’s website & bookmarked the reading order so I read them all correctly now 😊. Really enjoyed the Mageri Series. All the books are superbly written.
