Eufy E31 Smartlock
Eufy Smart Lock Review — A Huge Upgrade Over Schlage EncodeAfter struggling with two Schlage Encode locks, I decided to replace them with Eufy smart locks, and I couldn’t be happier with the switch. My Experience With Schlage EncodeUnfortunately, the Schlage Encode locks consistently gave me trouble. Despite repeated attempts, I was unable to update the firmware, and getting the locks to join my Wi-Fi network was frustratingly unreliable. A quick search online confirmed that I wasn’t alone — plenty of other users reported the same issues. These ongoing problems eroded my confidence in the Schlage devices. Why Eufy Stands OutIn contrast, the Eufy smart locks have worked perfectly from day one. Setup was simple, and they connected to Wi-Fi without any hassle. The locks have been reliable ever since, with no dropped connections or update headaches.I also appreciate the build quality:The Eufy lock operates quietly — no loud clunking noises like I experienced with the Schlage. The rear latch feels solid, with no excessive play or looseness.Seamless integration with Doorbells like the e340 for unlockingFinal ThoughtsIf you’re looking for a smart lock that simply works, I highly recommend giving Eufy a try. After my disappointing experience with Schlage, Eufy’s reliability and thoughtful design have been a refreshing change.

Great smart lock
So far good. I would say the lever can be less flimsy but it works always. The battery notification is helpful and the auto lock function works well too. Installation is fairly easy, just follow the instructions. However i have to say it is difficult ish to get the seal to properly seal the lock against the door for weatherproofing it. For the price, this is an excellent smart home lock that you can open/close from anywhere. No additional subscription needed. I actually used this to replace my schlage. The schlage build quality is nicer but i don’t think it’s 8x nicer compared to this.

easy to install and look great
I purchase this lock after visiting my son in Dallas. I got lock out but able to open the door through remote control from my in law app. It took my husband about 1/2 hours from install to set up. The lock works great with good build quality. My husband has to repaint all handle to match the look, it takes him more time to repaint everything than to install the lock. The rechargeable battery is a plus.

Do Not Buy! Dangerous and Unreliable
UPDATE: The Eufy support team did end up springing into action and replacing the lock. I am pleased with the support that was (finally) provided---Original Review:This eufy Smart Lock C33 is a complete disaster. I bought this hoping for convenience and security, to replace an old schlage, but what I got was a malfunctioning, unreliable product that made my family feel unsafe. From the beginning, the lock had issues connecting and operating through the app. Homekit never worked and the app stopped working competely after a while. Wife-approval went to zero when her and kids fingerprints stopped working.I tried reinstalling it, resetting it, and troubleshooting with customer support, but nothing worked. The lock would also randomly lock and unlock, which is a serious security concern.Customer support was slow and unhelpful. They kept asking for more information instead of addressing the core problem. I uploaded logs and sent a video showing the problem, but the issue persisted. After multiple attempts, I gave up and decided to return the lock. This product is poorly built and unreliable. Do not waste your money or risk your security with this lock. I strongly recommend looking for a different, more reputable brand

Great smart lock
I have been using smart locks for years, and this is my third. The Eufy replaced an August lock, so that will be the direct comparison. The August just replaced the inside portion, so reused the deadbolt mechanism. This Eufy replaces the entire unit, which has both advantages and disadvantages. If you're a renter, or want/need to maintain the existing key, leaving the existing deadbolt is preferred. However, replacing the entire mechanism, like the Eufy does, allows for more features, like the included keypad and fingerprint reader. For the August, the keypad was an add on.The Eufy also included wifi built-in, where with the August it was a separate component that was plugged in near the lock. While that requires more batteries for the Eufy, I prefer the all-in-one solution. The other advantage of the Eufy replacing the entire mechanism is how much more positive and direct the lock feels when locking/unlocking it manually. The August would sometimes get out of sync, and when turning the lock knob by hand, it would engage the motor and you would be turning that, too. The motorized locking is also more precise, and quieter, on the Eufy. The last advantage is really only for those already using Eufy. Having it integrated with the camera app is great. If you have a camera at the entry, you can locl/unlock the door from the same screen as viewing the camera. The fingerprint scanner works great, and is faster and easier than using a code. The one complaint I have is in the app. If you add codes for people like pet sitters, cleaning people, etc., you are limited in terms of how you allow them to use the lock. It's either always or scheduled. And you can't change that without removing the code and adding it back. You also can turn a code on and off. You have to remove it and add it. That's annoying and an inexcusable oversight. Hopefully that will be addressed at some point, but I don't have high hopes.
