I place my trust in Hoya filters.
Every lens filter that I use is a Hoya. I have always obtained excellent protection and serviceability from Hoya products, and this filter is no exception. It has performed well in all circumstances and helps provide excellent images while protecting the camera lens from dust, dirt and damage. A very well made glass filter with high grade aluminum framing. I would not hesitate to purchase another filter of this type. Hoya does a very nice filter at a nominal price.

Great CPL
Nicely made and great image quality-I bought this one for my nifty fifty which I don't use that often. I shot it a few times on a trip with my 5dsr and it has great polarization and shows no issues-ring has tension but turns smoothly and I mounted 150x100 grads on it with no problems. As a side note-this is my first Hoya polarizer, I only use B+W but I was in a hurry and this one came next day-I don't see any noticeable difference between this one and the B+W as far as optical quality goes so it works for me!

I'd used circular polarizers previously with my film cameras. ...
I'd used circular polarizers previously with my film cameras. Perhaps this just doesn't mate well with my Fuji X100 and the wide conversion lens I have on it. Often using this filter, a very dark zone is created in mid frame. I'm quite surprised at that. I had thought that I might see accentuated deep blue toward one end of frame, but I'm seeing it in the middle of the frame. I'm attempting to use it when aimed approximately 90º to the sun, as I once had when using a CP in my film days. The third of the frame toward the sun from that 90º is lighter and the third of the frame away from that 90º is lighter. That middle third of the frame, directly 90º from the sun is exceptionally dark. Another factor is that I'm shooting above 5000 ft elevation. I actually haven't felt I needed a polarizer through the years I've been shooting digitally, but thought I'd give it a try. I wonder if this high elevation and the deep blue we already get makes the CP's effect just too much. I'm playing with just how far I'm turning the filter to see if I can feather the effect. I might come back at some point in time and rate the filter higher. I'm always will to consider that my results may be due to operator error or less than adequate experience with a CP and digital sensors.

Excellent Filter At Bargain Price
This is an excellent filter. I bought it for use on my Canon 50 1.8 and Canon 40 2.8 for making videos when the light is too bright to have the lens wide open without a filter.I tested it on both lenses and was interested to find that while photos with both lenses with filter in place were fine they were better on the 40 mm. This tells me that I should use the 40 mm rather than the 50 whenever possible. It is a sharper lens.Comparing the photos taken with the 40 plus filter with those taken without the filter show very little difference, other than a slight darkening, which is what you expect.I also took some photos with the 40 with this filter on top of a B&W ND filter and was pleased that the quality of the photo was still very good. This is important when the light is bright enough to need more than either of the filters alone. When putting the filter on the camera take care to be sure that you are tightening the threads and not just turning the portion that you turn to change the amount of darkening. it is a thin filter and would be easy to think you are turning the lower portion to tighten the threads when you are really turning the upper portion. The threads mated perfectly with the lens, but there is very little to get your fingers on to tighten the lens.If you need a 52 mm polarizer, this is an excellent choice. High quality at a bargain price.

Excellent, Bright, Smooth
The "High Rate Transmission" (HRT) polarizer is the best solution I've found so far for a polarizer for use alongside my manual focus lenses and "super precision" matte focusing screen. (EG-S for Canon 5D Mark II and 6D). Since the super precision focusing screens make the viewfinder a bit darker, the extra bit of light transmission makes the difference for my purposes to assist with focusing while still keeping the polarizing effect. Comparing it side-by-side to a more "traditional" polarizer, you can distinctly see that this polarizer is a little brighter. Other fit and finish are good as well. The glass wipes clean easily and the ring rotates smoothly, just as you would expect.

Amazing filter!! Really makes my photos look crisp! Loving this filter!
I'm not a professional photographer, but am learning. I can't believe the difference this filter makes! I just had a clear filter on to protect my lens. When I got this, I took a couple pics without the filter, then I put the filter on, wow!! What a difference! The first pictures I took, it was a very hot day, my pictures looked like it had a hazy look to it, like foggy, then I put on the polarized filter and wow! It's like it took all the haze away and everything was so crisp and just amazing!! I've left this lens on even when taking pictures inside, I've had no problems with auto focus. I've heard peopke say it has a mark on the outer lens, I see it, is the mark suppose to be on the top? I don't notice much when I turn it, just a little less glare. I have a canon SX50HS and I have an adaptor on, so I didn't need an adaptor and the 58mm fit perfect!! I had asked a lot of questions before buying this and want to say thank you all for helping me with questions and making the right choice, cause there were others I was looking at, this filter is great!! I would recommend this to anyone! From people who just starting in photography, or just takes pictures for fun or the advanced photographers! :) in the pictures I put, the lens in the package is my old clear filter, im just showing for the box. But if anyone wants to see the actual filter let me know, I had already put it on.

Perfect Filter
GREAT filter!! Using on my Tamron 10-24mm lens. NOTE: DO NOT even think you are going to use this to deepen a lot of blue skies on a super wide lens. You will get very nasty banding just from the nature of the lens being so wide. No fault of the filter. This jewel is perfect for cutting through water shots, foliage shots, etc. when using such a wide lens. It does a wonderful job. Built strong and fits like a glove. Awesome filter. Complete top shelf HOYA standards went into this one. Very Thin, never shows up in the shot, even at 10mm. Very happy I bought it.

Filtro polarizzatore UV.
