Yes, you can, but if you experience sensitivity, you can skip a day or two. I found skipping doesn't make much of a difference.

How often should I use the strips?

I use strips when wanted teeth whiter or felt they needed whiting

Is it possible to just add part of a strip? I can't use them on my front teeth, which are caps, not natural enamel.

Yup, I have an implant which is whiter than the adjacent teeth on both sides, so I cut the strip and apply where needed. Works out just fine.

does this work on tobacco stains???

It works wonderfully on tobacco stains. However if you continue smoking I would probably do a touch-up 1 day a week.
