No suction cups
The suction cups don't come with this product, I found that a bit odd, since most due.

the questions provided to answer are off base. This item doesn't provide any power. It straines the water intake, but only stops larger items from being sucked into the filtration system. We've had small fish get sucked into, and through the grates. It can get clogged easily, but this comes from the strain on the filtration system, not this individual piece. It works the way it is designed. Nothing more and nothing less.It would be nice if it came with two suction tabs to attach to the aquarium with a stand off, as it is with the size of the device, the suction tabs attach awkwardly and occasionally the suction tabs release because of the strain angle.

Glad to have this!
I bought this to replace this part in my turtle tank. On the last one, 2 plastic pieces broke out, where the suction cups go, so it's been going without the suction cups for the side of the tank until this one came and I cleaned the tank. Fits perfectly!

It is Fluval. What else can you do?
I ordered the Fluval A20221 FX5/FX6 Intake Strainer (Q2) because the original bottom locking-piece on our original filter broke off, leaving me with only one side that would connect. The entire FX6 unit might be 1 year old. Very disappointed that it is already breaking down so, I ordered 2 of them because I suspect the problem is a design flaw and the same failure will re-occur in the future. Unfortunately, we did not have time to research for less-expensive alternatives. The replacement works. That is all that is required.
