works well enough
I have had this item for a year, and it is still working. My only problem with it is if the wind blows, tree branches moving in the breeze set if off. I got it to keep stray cats from my yard and it works well for that. However I could not set it up where I planned because every time the wind blew the moving tree branches set it off, and it only needs slight movement to trigger it. I moved it to my deck out of sight of the trees. I filled a flower pot with dirt and rocks and stuck the pointy part of the sprinkler in there. So, my review is, yes, the motion detector works great, and has lasted a long time. But since I could not place the sprinkler where I needed it, the cats still come into my yard, but they do stay off my deck! lol. Later on, the neighbors got a dog they would let run loose, and it kept doing its business in my yard. I moved this sprinkler to the front yard, and it worked well to keep the dog away. The draw back to that was every car that drove by set it off, but the dog did learn to keep out of the yard. So the good thing is, you dont have to always keep it up and on. Just long enough to train the nuisances to keep away. so all in all, I would buy this again.

Helps keep my cat in my backyard
I bought a few of these to guard a few spots along my backyard fence where my cat likes to sneak out. It worked well, immediately training my cat to avoid the areas where it was posted.I took a star off for a few reasons:1) The motion detection is too sensitive, regardless of the setting you put it on. On some days, it tends to go off because some leaves are swaying in the breeze... and goes off repeatedly because the stream of water made them jiggle even more. This constant light sprinkle of water creates a moist biome with tons of cleaver weeds and mushrooms.2) While the units lasted well under normal conditions, one broke after an ice storm (that's on me; didn't think to weatherproof it) and seemed to have rusted together with the garden hose I used with it. So now I get to buy a replacement unit and a replacement hose.Still, it's a great solution for the problem I had, and I'm getting another one.

This unit IS RUBISH 😡😠😡.
The media could not be loaded. 👉 Update # 2😡😡😡28th February 2023This unit worked perfectly fine for the first 3 months, but it has since started giving Real trouble. It constantly spray water every couple of second's for no reason, I have changed the settings for 1-2-3 & 4 and tried numerous times but it just keeps on spraying. It really worked exceptionality well for the first 3-4 months, but now it's annoying. 😡😠😡🤬👉 Update # 128th November 20222 months after installing the unit, I have noticed that the unit has started going off for no reason, I have tried changing the setting but that makes no difference. The unit started doing this about 7 days now, so I will be monitoring it. I don't know if it could be the battery that needs changing that's causing it to do that, because I haven't had to change the batteries since I installed the unit about 2 months ago. I don't see why it will be going off if the batteries needs changing, it should be NOT 🚫 going off, but it's the only thing that I can come up with at the moment. 🤔1st October 2022This unit work's great so far. I bought it to get rid of cats that have been 💩 pooping on my lawn as though my lawn was the neighborhood toilet for 🐈😺 cat's.Since I installed this unit 3 days ago and I haven't had a 💩 poop on my lawn so far and I used to have about 2-3 loads ah night. I will give another update as time goes on with the unit, but so far I am happy with the results.I have attached a video for your viewing.

Got it to work, which shouldn't have been the goal
The first one I received had a faulty sensor that wouldn't go off even if I covered the sensor with my hand repeatedly. This gave me an hour of headache as I was trying to determine if it was user error, battery, or environmental conditions but it turned out to just be a bad unit so that speaks on the quality control. The replacement had the opposite effect. I was getting faulty triggers even on the lower sensitivity setting. I'm using this device to keep neighborhood cats and my own dogs out of a golf practice zone in the backyard and to stop them from doing their business on my expensive launch pad and tent. What happens if this device faces towards the sun, is if it goes off, it wets the ground that might pool some water, then the warmth of sun appears to reflect off the ground or tent and it causes another false trigger. After a few days of these false triggers going off all the time wasting my water, the batteries died and needed to be replaced. I had to re-angle the device to face away from the suns path and this eliminated the false triggers however it wasn't ideal for the layout of my backyard and I was restricting my own territory. So it took some tinkering until I found a way to angle the device towards the ground a small amount and it reduces the false triggers. At night it works the best as there's less overall interference to cause false triggers. The sound alone can scare some animals and the water splattering all over the place is a bonus scare action. With decent water pressure the sprinkler easily shoots over 10 feet and can zone out a good area. My dogs had claim to my whole backyard and no matter what I tried other than fencing off an entire area, the dogs would do their business in the only areas I don't want them to. This was the most cost effective way to zone them out of a certain area. The good news is in several weeks, my area doesn't smell and there's no orange stains and soft tootsie rolls to clean up.It doesn't feel high quality but it doesn't leak, and at least the sensor works on my second unit. The only problem I have with it, is I have zero confidence in leaving this completely unattended as under the right circumstance, if it goes off, it could put itself into an indefinite loop of continually re-activating itself until the battery dies and it's flooded a small area 5 cups of water at a time.Another bonus is my younger kids like to pay chicken with it to see how close can they get before it sprays them. My dogs now respect it and they look at it with cautious eyes when they go out there. I also have never seen them urinate in my area as they get pelted with the sprinkler water, it usually makes them go in another area which is the point.
