Quite informative
The media could not be loaded. This book is quite informative. Let me add part of a paragraph straight out of the book.Blaster Weaponry'Common blaster weapons use high energy gas as ammunition, activated by a power cell and converted into plasma. The plasma is released from a magnetic bottle effect to fire through collimating components as a coherent energy bolt. Inherent instabilities limit the ability to precisely aim a blaster bolt, but knowing one's weapon well can strengthen marksmanship.'Well I never knew that the blasters were gas powered, and the 'instabilities' that 'limit the ability to precisely aim a blaster bolt' kind of explains why most Stormtroopers can't hit the side of a Deathstar. The pictures are well done and really show the age of all our favorite items from a galaxy far, far away. There are some items that are cross-sectioned giving us a inside look of some of these items. It also has some of the creatures that were added to the universe with George's 1990's updates.Anyway this is a nice book and I recommend it if you are a fan of the original Star Wars movies.

for a KNOW NOTHING fan of star wars
my boyfriend checked this book out of the public library so that i could read up on star wars info before he dragged me to the revenge of the sith movie. i sat down to read it, and yes, it's a children's book, but nonetheless, came away with a lot of new and interesting info on star wars. i'm sure this book is nothing special for die hard fans but for the kiddos (and parents) of upcoming fans, this book is awesome. lots of pictures, diagrams and explanations on EVERYTHING! thinking of buying all the visual dictionaries so that i can introduce my kiddos to star wars.

Original Series - as good as you can get
If you're a snob like me you don't want any of the prequel or sequel nonsense showing up in the Star Wars books you get. This is probably as close as you're going to get since it is strictly the original trilogy but with a few of the "special" edition nonsense thrown in. Wrong glowing Anakin in RotJ, that kind of thing. Otherwise it's a perfect book!

Awesome Book
If you like star wars, especially the original three, this is a must buy. Ever curious as to what the inside of a storm troopers helmet looked like? Well look no further, this book gives you the inside information on almost every major character in the series including very minor ones like the band that plays in the cantina and the IG-88 droid. Do buy.

It's Star Wars...
If I could limit my review to under 5 words I would say: It's Star Wars people, but since I need at least 20 words. Love the images, the summary of information on the characters, and hello... Luke Skywalker. I love the original trilogy, which is why I purchased this one along with the character encyclopedia(which covers both trilogies). I also hear R2-D2 and C3PO are big fans of this book :)

A great book for Star Wars fans of any age - not just kids!
I bought this a a gift for my nephew who is four year old and just getting started in the Star Wars universe. He's absolutely fascinated by this book - especially for the pictures, of course. If you;re looking for a gift for, well, really anyone who is a Star Wars fan, this book (and the others in the Visual Dictionary series) are a must-have. I absolutely recommend this book as well as the others, for readers of any age.
