Does a good job. Recommended.
First time owning anything like this. There are cheaper ones on the market, but I am pleased I bought this one from Dreo.I was slightly concerned when I noticed many of the 5-star reviews were non-UK reviews from people who had received a free product. But having decided to buy it anyway, I have no regrets. It is rated at 10000 BTU, which feels adequate for my application (see below). I am pleased I did not opt for anything with less power.First impressions:Arrived well-packaged in a sturdy box. The box lifted off from the top, once the plastic straps were removed. This is good design, compared to some other brands which require you to lift the unit out of the box. I struggled to get it upstairs in its box due to the size and weight. In hindsight, I would have found it easier to unbox it downstairs. Then I would have been able to get a better grip on a smaller load - nor would I have had the not-insignificant weight of the box and accessories to contend with. It is made from good quality plastic and gives the impression of being sturdy.Set-up:The unit comes with fittings designed for sliding windows. The fittings are not suitable for a casement window, like I and many others in the UK have. With a bit of fiddling I was able to cobble a solution to fit a small top window with a vertical hinge (see photos), but there was no way I could get it to fit the side-opening window. I'm not bothered about it being 100% airtight, as a certain amount of air needs to enter the room to compensate for all the hot air being blown out of it. As you can see, I needed to raise the level of the unit so the hose would stretch. It needs a very stable base in such an instance - with the castors on the unit disabled/confined; you would NOT want this heavy unit rolling off or toppling over! DREO could do their customers a great favour by supplying casement window fittings for units sold to the UK market.Cooling - does a good job of quickly cooling my 14sqm bedroom. From an ambient temperature of 27C these past few days, it gets it down to a far more comfortable 22C fairly quickly (60-90 minutes), and can go down a couple more degrees with more time. It can't go from 27C to 16C, and I think it would be unreasonable to expect this. But it could achieve 16c from a slightly lower start point, I am sure. On my first day of ownership, it struggled to cool much at all, even though I'd let it stand a few hours after delivery. But on the next day, after standing for 24 hours, it did a much better job.Noise: No - it is not 'silent' - far from it. I measured 50dB at 1 metre using an app on my phone. Subjectively, it was like having 2 everyday Curry's-type fans on at the same time. It definitely might interfere with listening to TV/radio in a room as small as mine, depending on your sensitivity to noise. I suspect that in a larger or less boxy room, the noise would seem quieter. BUT - it did not interfere with sleep/conversation/reading at all. I reckon that the white noise of the fan is rather helpful to sleep, paradoxically. In any case, the value of the comfortable temperature in the bedroom outweighed the noise. I admit to using a noise-cancelling AirPod in one ear on the first night I used it (the other ear is muffled by the pillow), but even though it fell out while I was asleep, I continued to have a good sleep. I imagine that certain components in the unit might be as quiet as the 46dB claimed by Dreo, but the cumulative effects of the fans and condenser can't help but emit a significant noise volume. Having said that, all the reading I have done suggests you can't realistically get quieter units than this unless you opt to have a split unit installed. Split units - like the ones you get in hotel rooms - are quieter because the cooling fan is located on the outside of the building. And even those are often not 'silent'. With installation costs, a split unit would cost almost three times as much as this portable unit. As long as you adjust your expectations, if necessary, you'll be happy with this air conditioner. I don't think you can get significantly better at the price.Ease of use: the supplied remote control is easy to use, and pleasingly substantial. It is large enough not to lose down the back of the bed or the side of a sofa. The phone app works perfectly and is also easy to use. It shows interesting information in graph form, such as the change in temperature every 15 minutes - graphed in daily and weekly views. Unlike some cheaper units for sale, this unit does not require water to be drained when used in cooling mode (except when used in extremely humid conditions), but does require draining if you are using it as a dehumidifier. This is a definite plus-point.Final thoughts:Initially I thought this used an inverter condenser. My pre-purchase reading suggested one of these simply varies its speed as required, rather than kicking on and off at intervals. The condenser on this unit does kick on and off. It is noticeable, but acceptable in the context of the background noise of the fans. So does this mean it is not an inverter-design? I don't know. Also, the refrigerant used is R290, not R32 as claimed in the listing. This annoyed me, as I'd set out specifically to buy a unit that used R32. But given that the unit cools well enough, it bothers me less now.Lastly, DREO customer service is very good. They always replied within 24 hours, and sometimes after only a few minutes. They answered my questions satisfactorily, and I was left with the impression they really want their customers to be happy.

A Top Quality Powerful Aircon for Bedroom/Living room
The perfect air con for a living room or bedroom. Easy to set up. App is easy to install. Bluetooth connection simple. Comes with a remote if you can't be bothered with your phone.I do recommend adding device to the app and on the Dreo website to get the warranty.I ordered the additional 4yr warranty as well.Already paying for itself today on the hottest day of the year. 30C in my house with high humidity, but bedroom a nice cool 20C.I use it to chill the room to the right temperature then set it to Eco mode. The unit goes as low as 16C, and max of 30C if you're using it winter.Relatively quiet too. Top speed fan mode is noticeably loud but low speed a more expected noise level. Device has a sleep timer too.Pricey but high quality. Highly recommended. Make sure you don't use on an extension with any other appliances for safety. These are meant to have their own connection, nothing else to risk overloading.

Very useful and space efficient
Love it. Works as advertised. The app is straight forward and simple, the only minor issue for me was needing a longer exhaust hose, and that my windows are not the most convenient/comparable but nothing the delivery box and a bit of duct tape didn’t fix.Is audible, but can be in the bedroom. I normally but it on a timer to turn off over night to aid with this, or stick it sleep mode so it only comes on as needed to maintain the cooler temp set.

Dreo a good buy.
Got this to replace my ageing Swan Aircon which was quite loud at 63 dBBut the Dreo runs quiet effectively at only 53db and cools the room quickly as for cost to run it's certainly cheaper.Very pleased with purchase hopefully I will get at least 12 years of use like my old Aircon.

Efficient and quiet
This is very effective in a fairly large bedroom. Much quieter than a store own-brand unit bought a few years ago.As stated the hot air exhaust pipe needs a sealed exit; it comes with a kit which would work with some sliding and sash windows, but is less suitable for a casement. I used a piece of plywood in which I cut a round hole (the clip for the pipe covers small inaccuracies) and velcro-taped this over the open window (a cut-out is also needed for the window stay to project through). A more diligent worker might paint or varnish the plywood. Make sure the plywood is thick enough to accommodate the screws for the clip.Works well and cooled the room quickly during recent heatwaves.

Finally bit the bullet, glad I did!
Bought this for the bedroom because the house is a heat trap (mid terrace, east/west facing windows) and to keep our somewhat temperature sensitive preemie comfortable.I've always been one of the "what's the point I'll only use it a couple weeks a year it's not worth it" crowd, but let me just say that this unit has been absolutely fantastic! It's no louder than a fan at high speeds, and quickly and efficiently cools the room down, going from ~30C to around 23C in about 30 minutes. I don't have any to compare to, but the fact that we've managed to sleep comfortably throughout the evenings (5 month old included) and weather 3 heatwaves so far it's been well worth the investment and one I can whole heartedly recommend!I had to buy a hose extension because it didn't reach out of the window but I knew that already before purchase - and for those looking the one that comes with the unit is a 6" diameter (I ended up getting a 2m 4" tube with a 6" to 4" adapter)
