The Colour Monster Review: Great book to help toddlers understand and talk about feelings - I want to gift this book for every toddler mom out there. My little guy has a lot of big feelings, and he seemed to be having trouble understanding what he was feeling and how to manage them (like EVERY toddler). He had also started hitting when he was feeling mad. This book has helped a ton. It’s given him a framework to start understanding his feelings and be able to label some of them. The book gave him some words to try using to start talking about them. Best of all, the story is really light and playful; because it’s not heavy-handed, it provided a soft way to open the door to conversations about his feelings without shame or judgement. Also, the illustrations are really cool! Buy this book. Review: Vivid and engaging! - My students absolutely loved this beautiful book. Its high quality and vibrant colors truly captured their attention, making it an engaging read. The illustrations are not only eye-catching but also complement the narrative perfectly, sparking curiosity and encouraging discussions among the students. It's wonderful to see how a well-crafted book can inspire young readers and foster a love for literature!

Exploring Emotions with The Color Monster
“The Color Monster” series by Anna Llenas. This enchanting collection of books takes toddlers on an unforgettable journey through the kaleidoscope of feelings, fostering a deeper understanding and connection with their emotional landscape. In each installment, the Color Monster embarks on a new adventure, unraveling the mysteries of joy, sadness, anger, and more. Through whimsical illustrations and relatable storytelling, young readers are invited to explore the nuances of each emotion, learning that feelings come in all shapes and colors. What sets these books apart is their gentle approach to emotional intelligence. Rather than shying away from big emotions, “The Color Monster” embraces them, teaching children that it’s natural and healthy to experience a wide range of feelings. By personifying emotions as colorful creatures, the books offer a tangible way for toddlers to identify and express their own emotions. But the magic of “The Color Monster” doesn’t stop there. With each turn of the page, children learn valuable coping strategies for managing their emotions. Whether it’s taking a deep breath to calm down or seeking comfort from a friend, the books empower young readers to navigate life’s ups and downs with confidence and resilience. As a parent, I appreciate the thoughtful approach to emotional literacy in these books. They provide a springboard for meaningful conversations about feelings, helping children develop the language and skills they need to express themselves in healthy ways. Love It for Home & Preschool Classroom
My son is now 4 years old and although we talk about his feelings, I like to buy books that can assist in his social emotional development as well. This book does a great job at illustrating feelings and labeling them. The feelings aren’t labeled as good or bad, which is also helpful in explaining feelings to children. My son loves this book and sometimes requests it at bedtime. I am also the director of an early development center and our staff have this book in their classrooms. Some of our children have trouble expressing their emotions in a healthy manner, so this has been helpful for teachers to use to talk about feelings. If I had to pick one thing I don’t like about the book (and this is me being VERY picky), it’s that when it talks about anger it mentions taking it out on others, but the other character offers to be nice so the anger will disappear. I don’t want to teach my son that it’s okay to hurt others and that it’s other people’s responsibility to help calm him down. So, I mention other tools I’ve given him like deep breaths or counting for when he feels angry.

The best book to share with 2.5 year olds about emotions. Uses colours to make the emotions more relatable. My little one loves this book and loves giving colours to how everyone is feeling. Definitely a good book for learning about emotions.

Adhd suspected in my 4 year old. He has big emotional rollercoasters. But reading the book everyday, watching someone read it on youtube too has made a considerable change in his behavior not only at home but at kindergarten. Even my 2 year old loves it and it helps her too!!
