Excellent compact 3/8" Ratchet!
Just to be completely clear, this is a very small 3/8" drive ratchet, not a 1/4" drive model. It's basically a 3/8" drive head assembly in a 1/4" drive body, designed to get into places where you might need a larger drive size but can't fit traditional 3/8" ratchets. As indicated, it is only for use in fairly low-torque applications, for what should be obvious reasons. This ratchet is deceptively small, about the size of a dessert fork. The handle is about as big around as most people's pinky finger, in fact. For its size, the ratchet does have considerable heft and you can tell that it is made from good steel and is not import junk. The ratcheting action is only single pawl, but it is still fairly positive and the swing arc is sufficiently low that the ratchet will work as intended in cramped compartments, under the dash and other places were you don't have the room to maneuver to catch the next tooth. As with all the Wright ratchets I've used, this one is extremely well made. The chrome is flawless and right on par with even the most expensive truck brands, far exceeding anything you'll find in, say, Craftsman or other mid-range tools. The flex head is made with a series of detents which run against a ball compressed by a spring in the handle. This keeps the head from flopping or becoming loose and gives it just enough resistance. On the whole, I would definitely buy this ratchet again. It is touted as the smallest 3/8" ratchet on the market and owning both this and the non-flex version, I believe it. The fact that it is US-made and such a high quality, industrial tool is an added bonus. This thing should last a lifetime and will be the last mini 3/8 ratchet you'll ever need. I highly recommend you check it out if you're in the market for one. You won't be disappointed!
