In real layman terms how does this TAB work ????

I have this. My battery died. Am I just supposed to throw it away now? It was a lot of money.

There is no battery compartment on the unit. The Boogie Board 8.5 is supposed to be good for 50,000 resets. That is a lot of resets. It is a throw away unit

Is there a limit to how many times it can be erased, then rendering it useless at that point?

Yes, there is a limit and while 50,000 seems like a lot of uses my 2 toddlers got a hold of ours and played with it for about 2 weeks on and off in the car and such and that was that! So, probably OK for the occasional use by an adult or mature child, but don’t let a toddler get a hold of it! I’m going to look into the kid version to see if it is any better.

Can you erase only part of what you write on it?

They have a different product that allows you to erase a specific area only.
