No, it will not. The butter crock is designed to preserve the softness of the butter by utilizing the airtight seal created by the water. Therefore, the butter crock itself is not airtight and a slight shake will not affect it.

Q: Why is there a ring on the top without glaze?

Due to the glazing process, the ceramic lid's edge must be partially unglazed. To avoid the problem of unglazed parts dirtying the water, we moved this unglazed area to the top of the lid, which also improves stability when inverted on a table.

Q: How much butter does this butter keeper hold?

It holds one stick of butter, but if you use it infrequently, maybe can put the half in the crock and storing the rest in the refrigerator. Make sure to firmly press the half stick and adheres to the inside of the lid, so that it will not fall out.

Q: How can I know how much water to add to the base of the butter crock?

There is a circle of line on the inside of the base, you just need to add water up to the line on the base, and please change the water in two or three days.

Ensure the butter isn’t overly softened and that the lid is clean and dry. Press the butter firmly to avoid air bubbles. Refresh the water every two or three days and keep the butter crock away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
