I was looking for something small with a strong light. This is it. The way the bulb is shaped spreads the light around well. The multiple settings are perfect: dim, bright, brighter, flash. It’s portable requiring only a few batteries. I put this in my backpack when traveling in case there is an emergency situation when I’m hiking or whenever. You never know when you may find yourself stuck. And who wants to waste their phone battery for a light?

These are pretty bright lights and the hooks are handy. Loading the batteries is a little tricky as you have to get the two halves closed "just right" or the light won't work.One of the lights only flickered, so I had to take it apart, and clean the battery contacts with a pencil eraser. That cleared it up, in case this happens to you. The "contacts" are the flat pieces of metal that touch the two movable prongs inside the battery case.

To be honest, I thought these lanterns would be a LOT larger. There are two in each package and about 3 inches in diameter and 2 inches deep. I put batteries in and turned them on. WOW! These really light up a large area. I took one into my large walk in closet. I guess I still didn’t really expect this little lantern to be bright enough. It was close in brightness to my overhead light in the closet. So, I am sure it could light a whole tent. There’s also three brightness modes, plus a strobe and an SOS flash. Not sure I’d find a use for the SOS mode, but I hear the strobe can confuse many animals (bears?) and scare them off.So, all in all, the small lanterns would be small enough to carry with you on a hike or store away with camping gear. As for me, I’m putting them in my car. If you do a lot of camping or hiking and are looking for small, very lightweight lights, these are the ones to get.

They are made sort of cheap but work fairly well for what we needed it for.We hung it up in our tent for three days and it was nice and bright.

I got these lights for my kids to use at night when they read in bed at night. They have a nice latch on the handle that my kids hook on their bed and the light hangs above their head and works perfect! The light is small and so bright. They got up and went out of the room and their eyes had to adjust because the light was so bright. They have 5 modes, so the kids can turn down the brightness in another mode if they want. It also has a flashing mode which is fun when we go camping and they play outside at night. I am very happy with this purchase and how well the lights work!!

I used a couple of these when I went to Yosemite and ended up in a pitch dark night time. These little lanterns do not take up much room, they are light weight and light up the campsite in a flood beam type pattern (no bears in sight!), the batteries which were not included lasted me the three nights of camping with heavy use. You should remove the batteries for long term storage, or at least until your next adventure.

These were so inexpensive but so handy. We have gone camping a few times now, and I bought the multi pack because I thought that they would be dim but I was very wrong. They are sort bright and there are different settings if you don't like it so bright. They are easy to pack, take up very Little room and easily moveable.
