Filled with Pseudoscience, platitutdes and upsells.
After checking out the reviews for this book, I thought I'd give it a read. With my anxiety issues, I try to read as much literature as possible to learn new techniques to help cope. Even just one new technique is worth the purchase price if it helps alleviate the issue. Sad to say, but this book is mostly useless if not harmful. The first chapter I went to was "Foods and Other Things That Can Cause Anxiety: And Why Big Corporations Don't Like You". I'm glad I did because it gave me a sense of what kind of nonsense I was in for. The Author starts off with some common and obvious foods or additives that can make you more anxious. Anyone with sense will know that a stimulant will make anxiety worse. That's fine though. After all, sometimes just reading things in a simpler way can make one come to a realization. Then, the author goes into the arena of pseudoscience. He lists Aspartame as something that should be avoided. As with his style, he cites someone else as his reason for avoidance, with no explanation given. Page 78, 2p "Aspartame is a very tricky one. I won't go into too much detail here, but Dr. Russell Blaylock has done some amazing studies on this artificial sweetener". The author wants us to take it at face value that Dr. Blaylock is the authority but won't tell us why.A quick search on Dr. Russell Blaylock returns a website that claims "He doesn't parrot what the New England Journal of Medicine — which receives heavy subsidies in advertisements — claims. " It gets worse but I'll spare you the gory details. If you're curious there is a healthy write-up here: http://skepdic.com/blaylock.htmlThe Author continues to list other infamous food additives such as MSG (which numerous studies has mostly no physical effect on people. Rather what the symptoms produced result from the Nocebo Effect) fluoride, and gives us one grand rule: "A good rule of thumb is that everything that was manufactured in a factory...is suspicious (pg.79, p 2).He continues on with this brilliant insight "Chemicals in general can give you weird sensations they can poison you". I don't know about others, but I know that strange sensation of being quenched when I drink that dreaded chemical H2O.The author ends the chapter with this telling disclaimer,"I don't want to be the hippy guy that says everything is bad for you..". He then goes on and prescribes that the reader switch to 100% organic everything, as if this is a panacea. The only thing this will result in is more anxiety over your spending habits. Oh and of course he tries to tell the reader that more can be found in his CDs and newsletter.Bottomline: this book isn't worth the paper it's printed on and the author does not appear to carry any credentials that are related to a scientific discipline. Please do yourself and your anxiety-issues a favor and seek a different book purchase on Amazon.

This is GREAT!!!
This resource works GREAT if you are willing to faithfully apply the recommendations! I'm in my mid-40s and I've suffered severe anxiety and panic attacks since childhood. My therapist referred me to this several months ago. I read it cover to cover, and I was hooked! Mr. Verschaeve's writing style comes across as if he is taking to me. He cuts to the chase and offers a structured process which the reader needs to apply to their own personal situation. He actually presents each step of the process in a way which can work, but if-and-only-if you are ready to heal. What gives this resource so much credibility is the honesty of its presentation, and that I have had to take fully responsibility for my own healing by putting Mr. Verschaeve's recommendations into practice! Mr.Verschaeve's sense of humor has also kept me engaged at every moment!I can recommend this to anyone suffering from anxiety or panic attacks if the reader is ready to use it to take responsibility for their own recovery!

Great read!
This book and the videos on Geert's website are very down-to-earth, very practical tools and tips to help control, overcome and/or maybe cure anxiety and panic attacks. He keeps it simple and keeps it real. I recommend this book to anyone who just started feeling these feelings but also anyone who has had them for years (like me). I've started using some of the techniques and I know it won't be easy but I believe I can finally be free from panic attacks for good by using these tools daily. I'm thinking about purchasing the CD program as well but still on the fence right now. I'm not giving 5 stars because some of the techniques seemed a little odd to me (floating, for instance) but who knows, it just may work.

A good effort from an actual survivor
The book is not a miracle cure. However, if you have anxiety, I stillrecommend you read it. You may not be able to cure your anxiety ever, but his approaches may help. Even if you seek a psychologist later forso called cognitive therapy, the Gert approach still rules. You hirethe professional to help, but you are in charge. You can solve yourproblem with their help. I like the overall attitude of the book. Mostof us seek help for anxiety, not depression. That is a differentproblem, which some also have.I read the book in one sitting, never went to the web site. Will dothe exercises the second time. The book does have specific examples and some hints on how those people dealt with their panic causing situation. But it really is not a broad approach. The solution is the same to all. You are the boss.

Just what I needed!
Before I found out about this book, I had severe driving anxiety for several years, and I was fed up with the fear! Though I have respect for therapists and therapy, it just wasn't right for me (as well as expensive), and I'm also very reluctant to take medication. Searching for help on what else to do, I came across this book on here and I'm glad I did!Geert's techniques on how to handle your anxiety and panic attacks work wonders! Of course, it requires some effort to help make them work, it's not instant. It does take time to get used to applying them and thinking in a whole new way, but if you give it all you've got, you will notice a change. And for just under 10$ it's worth a shot!Yes, he does mention his CD program in the book, but I personally haven't needed to try it. This book, and his videos on ilovepanicattacks.com alone worked just fine for me. I can drive and go about my day without anxiety about it, and it feels GREAT!

I definitely and highly recommend, also at a very good price
Wow - thank you Geert so much for writing this book, it is seriously life changing for me. I was unable to drive on motorways/ daul carriageways and had panic attacks - I have no idea why, this straightforward approach has enabled me to visit family and friends miles away. Geert offers further advice from his website and app that I listen to before I have to drive a long distance, I wouldn't be without my book. I definitely and highly recommend, also at a very good price, better and cheaper then the clinical hypnotherapy at £65 an hour... say no more!

An amazing book
I have read so many books on anxiety and done the Linder method, but found this book Gave practical steps which the Linder didn't address such as how to approach relapse thoughts. I do feel one needs a combination of many techniques and this book is a little helper. Many thanks x

How to rescue you!
Simple! Straightforward, and compassionate. At last I have found someone who understands because they too have suffered, and I am happy to let them take my hand and lead me on the path to freedom - after nearly 60 years of fear and anxiety. Bless you! My heartfelt thanks and warm wishes for a carefree future for all of us!
