No built in camera
Wonderful computer. Didn't occur to me that models at that level can come without built in camera. So I only confirmed with the seller that it has an optical drive and that the Windows 7 is Professional. I realized the computer, HP ElitBook 8570p, has no built in camera only after I installed Zoom and went ahead to test it. I see it as my fault skimming too quickly through the listed features, and not noticing that camera was not on the list, so I keep the 5 stars rating.

Better than described!
I was skeptical about purchasing a used laptop online. It's what they don't tell you that concerns me. I've had it for several days now and this laptop was WAYYYYYYYYY better than described! Excellent quality and it's FAST!!!!! It runs like a scalded dawg! I could not be more pleased. I have 100% confidence in purchasing from this seller again. A HUGE thank you for such a wonderful product and for the fast shipping.

The compiter works great and is exactly as described.
This computer has been working flawlessly so far. It was exactly as advertised, packaged well for shipping, and arrived on time. The seller also included a nice note thanking me for my purchase too. Not much more to say about a perfect transaction other than thanks Amazon!

Great shape for a used computer
Very pleased with the hardware. These computers are from around 2012, and for a used computer, it showed very little signs of use and ran great. It's large because of the screen and heavier than current computers, but that's to be understood for a machine made back in 2012. The battery, being old, was around half it's new capacity, also very reasonable for this age. The only thing that keeps me from giving it five stars is that while the Amazon page says that the laptop has Windows 10 Pro, there wasn't a Windows 10 Pro licence sticker for the laptop, and when querying the system for the license key for the installed Windows 10 Pro, found that the key was the universal temporary key that Microsoft provides for temporary installs, such as doing a quick test. As I was replacing the same model Elitebook that had a video card problem, I simply reinstalled my original licence from that laptop, but for someone who needed a laptop with a full key, there could be problems down the line. Something to be aware of.

the replacement refurbished one works great, the first one was a sour rotten maggot infested lemon
I have this HP Elitebook 8570 model, purchased a new one in September 2013. I have spent the last 8 months going thru the repair and technical onsite matters. You need to know certain things; like that they will delay a lot and give false fake appointments, for purpose of seemingly providing appearance of complying with the warranty terms. But after six months they tell you, there is no return option at the point when the 3 onsite tech visits have failed to bring a fix. Then at that upper level of repair the case goes up to “customer care” so now at six months, you lose option to return the item, now you only get a remedy of factory off site repairs, and maybe if are lucky, a refurbished replacement. You better be good at loading all your software and operating system. That is a standard delay tactic where they tell you reinstall everything many times. It is very arduous and labor intensive. It takes me at least 4 days to get all software and all drivers and all updates back in place.Watch out for the onsite technicians putting in things and taking out things. You may end up with last decade’s components. Like with me, I found out that my hard drive is now a Hitachi that I think is way outdated. I am not sure if that is what it was when I got it. And the onsite techs can order a huge pile of boxes to your house that have nothing to do with your computer; you may be used as a shipping depot. Also the onsite techs may forget to put down an anti static cloth down and spin you laptop on a table while putting screws in it. That results in scratches to the case. Also the on-site techs are only able to put parts in, with little ability to do troubleshooting or assessments. They are supposed to run diagnostics software before they leave, but instead they suggest that you go online with the unit they had just swapped things out of , that just minutes before had its OS re installed.Instead of the diagnostic software tests, they do this. As a function test they have you go online. To go online without taking the time to do the service packs and updates, not even the virus protection software is installed. But that is how the tech recommends, “I never use anti-virus software” “Just reinstall your OS often” “Linux is on my system, it never gets any virus” said the onsite technician. Then why is the system not issued with Linux I wonder. You better be able to not only reformat your 2 ½ inch drive, but to also wipe it 110%. To write zero’s to the hard drive when its repair time. Because you’re personal data and all your files can be recovered. Even after being deleted and reformatted. And your personal data is a gold mine for pirate fiends that exist out there. Trying to take care of your interests in that regard, and implementation of the best practices is easier said than done. You may want an extra drive and external enclosure case with the usb data relay cord. Along with an extra hard drive. And you may want to prepare a software disc with software that will write zeros at boot up, (DBAN.org may do it) start up to wipe out all data. Vital to do this before your data on the hard drive is removed from your site by the Technicians. I learned a lot about how to taken for a ride up a creek with a computer purchases from this HP Elitebook 8570w . Mine came from a Re-seller called Erie Computer Company. Very good price for a trouble plagued device. If you end up dealing with the “customer care” department in Costa Rica, you may wish to translate your emails to Spanish before you send them. I found the communication with them is similar to talking to a brick wall with limited English skills. Yesterday Ms. Vargas told me by email that she is cutting off my warranty and she signed the email “warmest regards”.I have no children, no job, and a lot of free time. Other people who have responsibilities would be overtaxed by how impenetrable the lines of communication are for that department that handles exchanges and/or factory repairs.Below is the text of the last email I sent them. This concludes my 8 month long, incredibly horrible, effort to buy a nice quality laptop.Email = dear ///. Yesterday I came to realize how to open and use the shipping label you had sent . They old computer is now in the mail on its way to HP.The way you send me the shipping label as an attachment in an .eml file was heretofore completely above my head. Before I discovered the special procedures and the trick to use the file, I was simply doing this: I had saved the attachment, and then when I opened it, all I saw was some text file. If you recall I had asked you about that this text file not being the shipping label weeks ago.If you are able to consider the matter from your customer’s point of view, you would add a note along with the attachment, in the main body of the email about how to open the label.I wonder, yesterday, when you tell me that you are cancelling my warranty, you signed the email “warmest regards”. It is odd to me that you use an English expression of friendliness, in an email in which you are declaring to me that you are cutting me off unfairly from the service warranty. You cold declaration, mixed with the warm expression is not congruent in my opinion. You must think of cutting off people’s warranty as your true agenda. That would explain all the delays and poor communication relays. It was a delay tactic to strategically separate me from my warranty right? “Nice” work ethics HP customer care dept in Costo Rica has.
