Dimensions 'Oriental Orchids' Counted Cross Stitch Kit, 14 Count Beige Aida, 12" x 12"

This kit is very well assembled, and the pattern is very easy to follow. I would not call this simple, nor would I say it's an entry-level cross stitch project. The pattern is split across two pages - a top half and bottom half. The instructions clearly tell you that the two halves overlap for 2 rows, which helps you to find your place when you switch the pages.I found that it was better to leave some of the finer details, including the gold touches, the branches, and the starkest of white, for very last on both halves - rather than doing the entire top half and then the entire bottom half.I have never had a project with such subtle shading (by using one strand from two different thread colors at once). I am truly impressed.But please do not comment saying "the pattern should be stamped on the mat" - that's not how this works. if that's what you're looking for, do a better job reading the descriptions before you choose your projects, and find yourself a beginner project. How can you see this image and think it's a first-time project?

It's a beautiful picture, and one my daughter and I both loved. I ordered the kit with the intention of making 2 of them; one for myself, one for my daughter's home. I figured all I would have to do to make 2 is to buy another piece of cloth. Not so. The thread comes with the kit, but it is their "own custom thread", which means there is no DMC chart to coordinate their colors with the DMC thread I already have. So I began to match their colors with my thread, thinking I would do it that way. It took me 15 minutes to match one of their colors with my own and realized it would be very time consuming to match all their colors with mine, so I put that aside. Then my dog chewed one of the 2 cardboard thread holders so that I could not make out the numbers to the colors, and some of the threads had been chewed off. I was forced to order another kit so that I could get their numbers of the thread again to continue with the first one. Then I'm wondering if there's even enough thread to complete the picture, and once you cut a strand of thread from the holder, there's no way to keep it identified with the number unless you want sticky notes stuck everywhere with the loose thread. Frankly, I would have preferred to just get the pattern, perhaps the cloth, and a simple DMC chart so that I could have used my own colors.

I just received this kit and it looks great. Got it in only about 5 days after ordering. Everything seems to be in the package as described and the materials look to be of really good quality. Can't wait to get started on it!

If you are a beginner that needs stamped outlines on the cloth this is not for you! A couple reviews complained about this and this is not a beginner kit. The design is beautiful and instructions are easy to follow. I am making this as a birthday present for my mom and I know she will absolutely love it

I'm almost finished with this kit and I love it. My only word of caution is that you should not be like me and try to lightly sketch 10x10 on the cloth with pencil, at least not blindly, because I ended up with some faint pencil marks outside where the flowers ended. Beginner mistake and definitely not the fault of this kit. What I especially appreciated about this kit vs the butterfly one, is that this one arrived with each of the colors firmly attached to a sticky cardboard and foam piece that had the color and number printed on it where it attached, this allowed me to be sure which color was which and not trying to play the "is this light khaki or dark beige?" game that I had to play with the butterflies. Depending on the color this kit contains between 30% and 200% of the quantity of floss that you need, I didn't run low on any of the colors.

I ordered this not really knowing what to expect. I received it and wow! I was most impressed with the way the threads were sorted. The guide is pretty complicated so this definately isn't a kit for beginners. I personally have never combined different color threads to cross stitch with and its crazy keeping track of it. However, I am seeing how beautiful the pattern is coming out and how lifelike it looks. Only 25% complete wtih it, but it comes with everything except for the hoop. I wasn't crazy about the needle included, I prefer one of my own. And the actual fabric that you stitch is pretty stiff, but all in all well worth the money.

I haven’t worked in cross stitch in years. This was a pretty project to get back into the craftI ran out of gold metallic thread. They should include more with the kit.

This kit came super fast. It is beautiful. Directions are very clear. Yarns are clearly identified by name and number. Can’t wait to begin stitching.

Dieses Stickbild eignet sich absolut nicht für Anfänger! Für Könner und solche, die sich sehr gerne - auch einmal stundenlang - mit der Stickarbeit beschäftigen wollen und können, ist dieses Bild sehr geeignet. Neben halben Kreuzstichen gibt es auch Kreuzstiche, Rückstiche und unterschiedliche Fadenanzahl und -zusammensetzungen. Schwierig ist lediglich das Stramin, welches schwer zu bearbeiten ist - aber am Ende freut man sich über eine - hoffentlich - gelungene Handarbeit. Anleitung ist leider nicht in Deutsch (Englisch, Franz., Spanisch).
