Works!!!
I was skeptical about using this filter due to the mixed reviews, but this filter worked like a charm. There is absolutely zero whining noise coming out of the speakers, works perfectly, very happy!

dangerous without modifications
It does attenuate signals up to about 1Mhz significantly, and what you're worried about in a car is between about 500Hz and 7000Hz (depending on the car, Hz ~ RPM).However, the thing is badly made. There is a PCB containing two capacitors (1000μf and 100μf) and an unmarked inductor. Standard stuff for a low frequency filter. The PCB has holes cut for strain relief zip ties to hold the wires on, but only one of the three wires had a zip-tie on mine. Also, the only thing between the solder side of the PCB and the 12V wires is a thin strip of foam tape that doesn't even cover the bottom entirely. It's almost guaranteed for the metal box to be connected directly to 12v in your car. Since this is a 30a device, like me - you probably have this wired directly to your battery through a rather large fuse. That makes it a huge fire hazard.I covered the bottom of my pcb with some "liquid electrical tape" but probably should have just filled the entire thing with epoxy. There's no vibration dampening on the components, so they eventually will break off of the pcb due to vibrations from the road if you don't take steps to upgrade this device.Once you fix the massive safety problems, this thing does what it should do. In my case it eliminates engine noise coming through the power line into my amateur radio (yaesu ft-991a).

Just what I needed!
I installed an aftermarket stereo in my 1998 Ford Ranger XLT, 3.0 V6 w/ Auto Transmission. The radio had a deafening “whine” noise to it, and made the overall driving experience somewhat unpleasant. So after much research I concluded that I needed this device to silence the whine. Installation was rather easy. Make sure to follow the supplied directions, and if in doubt, always consult YouTube for guidance. Once installed the annoying whine instantly disappeared. Now, driving the truck is a lot more pleasurable and I can listen to my tunes in peace.

Not impressed
This noise filter did not eliminate any of the static while radio was on when I turned on my light bar.

Good product.
I installed this on my car audio amplifier. It solved the issue of alternator whine 100%. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because I felt the wires of the unit are a bit small. They appear to be about a 10 gauge. If they were 8 gauge I would have given 5 stars.

Engine/alternator noise interference
Very effective solution and easy to connect to get rid of engine/alternator interference (whine noise). Try this at battery source (under hood) for power amplifier located in trunk before using isolation transformers (if noise persists) on amplifier RCA connectors.
