Gets WAY too hot for an animal!
Well, this gets too hot. I tried it in her crate last night. I let it warm up for a few hours by itself. At bedtime, we touched the pad and it felt hot. I used a meat thermometer in the center of the unit, underneath the fabric cover and it topped out at 115F degrees! If I had not tested it myself first... She would have cooked her insides for sure. No wonder my dog wanted nothing to do with it. Also, the pad is VERY hard. The sales photo is extremely misleading and makes it look like the cover is plush. The cover is actually thinner than a t-shirt and covers a heating pad that is harder than a cutting board. I am returning it.

Excellent Constant Temp for Ferals and Pets
This is a good kennel pad. It's in use for feral cats on our porch. The kittens sought it out even before the mom. They're uncatchable, so having a constantly heated pad was very important. They can hop on the pad at any time and be warmed. They're so light they wouldn't trigger the other kind of pad. THIS pad is, in my opinion, the best on the market in its price range and then some. I am ordering another for my chiweenie, who is often chilled.

No temperature setting
There is no temperature setting. I did what the instructions said and put a pillow on top for 20mins. I felt that it was way to warm for my cat. I put a light weight blanket folded multiple times and the put the pillow and it was still to warm. It is a great product if you could just control the temperature.

Quit soon after receiving
I put this product in an Indigo doghouse outdoors because it said that it could be used for outdoors use. It quit after about a week and a half. I went to check it because there is a winter storm moving in and I wanted the dog to be warm. Now I will have to improvise until I can get a better heating pad. Also, it stayed on constantly rather than just when the pet was laying on it.

Keeping Pets warm
The heating pad is working very well in the cold weather. I find the outside cats in the box all the time. It is very hard so I added a light weight mat as well as the pad that comes with it.
