Finally, A Book on Clutter that Doesn't ADD to it!
First step in decluttering? Bundle up ALL other organize/strategize/declutter books on your shelf (or piled on the floor or tucked in a closet or hanging out in a musty basement box..) and donate 'em to your library!"Clutter free life" is simple, well-planned, and not just inspiring - but DOable. And somehow begs to be done.I like the easy tone of her writing. Direct and enthusiastic without being saccharin. I like the simple photos with a variety of options and styles as examples in each section. This book isn't the most polished presentation (not glossy magazine pretty), but rather like a slightly bent and scuffed notecard with your best friend's recipe for her Award Winning Old School From Scratch Lasagna... it is a treasure that you will use and appreciate.Likely for longer than 31 Days. Some of the daily tasks take more than a day. But when done is completely worth your time, effort, and (also like that lasagna) best accomplished with a little humor and a commitment to finish.Clutterfree home or apartment = peace of mind and soul.

Decluttering Baby Steps
Awesome book! The checklists make it easy to move room to room, day by day. There are 31 days to declutter 31 different room areas and types of clutter. It is already making a difference at our house. I work full time but can spend 20-30 a day minimum on the daily decluttering. I plan on doing some each day and then starting over at the beginning of each month, aligning the dates to the day in the book. We should be seeing big changes in just a few months. Ruth left out the garage and yard but since we have no kids, we can substitute toys and other kid declutter days to other areas. I have tried all kinds of other kinds of decluttering techniques - this one is actually working!

Should be called 99 days to clutter free life...
This book assumes a number of things about the reader. One that we don't have anything else going on in our lives like jobs or children and that we could spend entire days doing the activities in this book. Two it is clear that the author has not seen the state of my closets or house! I have lived in the same small space for 12 years and have had several children during that time. Although we have purged regularly we still have quite a collection of things that need to be organized. It will take me at least a week for some of those activities she wants us to do in a single day. While she has some creative ideas, they are not all necessarily quick and easy to implement especially with a busy life.

I admire the author, but regret wasting my money.
Honestly, as a Christian, I don't have any issues with Christian perspectives and such. What frustrates me about this "book" is that I purchased it to declutter and it really is nothing more than repeated checklists. After the purchase of this book, and realizing it couldn't help me with my clutter issues, a friend mentioned and lent The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. Absolutely excellent! Again, as a Christian, I had no problem reading a book (it actually is a book and reads as such) that seems largely influenced by Shintoism, but in the end actually works at getting you to think and giving you the methods that actually work to truly declutter. One glaring difference is Marie Kondo states that if you go at it in full force, it will take about 6 months. That sounds much more realistic than 31 days. So, after 3 months of regret, and the temptation to ask the author for my $9.50 back, I would suggest borrowing this book, or simply printing checklists from the internet. If you really want an effective book, checkout Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.

I LOVE the way it is outlined
I am trying to make Clutter-Free a natural part of my every day life...the struggle is real. That being said, I LOVE the way it is outlined...it just falls short of the reality of the emotional attachment a "collector" has. I DEFINITELY recommend the book...

Good Ideas for Organizing your Home
Provides a good summary of how to break out the hard job of decluttering. Nothing we may not already know but certainly if you attack each room as suggested it would give you a good strategy towards achieving your goal.

Nothing new
Every chapter was basically a carbon copy of the one before. I really like this author but am really disappointed by this book.

Well worth reading and following, but take 31 days with a pinch of...
Very helpful as a starting point...I think that to achieve everything (i.e. A clutter free life...) in 31 days is a very tall order for those of us who would consider buying this book...but the ideas are sound, and having tasks / check lists does encourage following through. Now, if only I can find the right time to start.....!!

I love the way the author challenges me to keep what ...
My house is not messy but something we tend to keep too much stuff in our house without knowing. I love the way the author challenges me to keep what is necessary in my house and what has to go :)
