Well, the jury is out on if this is helping. The whistle works, so it does what it was made to do. Yet you will need to fidget with it with your dog to determine what pitch is the one that will stop your dog. My dog did stop, but he got used to hearing it, so he started barking again. Now I am trying other pitches so that he can stop. It does come with suggestions, such as using command words afterwards. If you are outside and in the very cold weather, keep that in mind with this whistle in regard to keeping your lips safe.

We have an 8-month-old Yorkshire Terrier who barks incessantly in our townhouse (two neighbors on either side). She''s a good dog, but fearing a problem with the neighbors, we felt the desperate need to make the barking stop immediately; it was really beginning to get out of control.The little whistle is audible, but it's still quiet. The whistle is loud and catches my dogs' attention and they stop barking for the immediate moment. However, that only lasts for a minute. I walk my dog in our neighborhood and don't feel comfortable blowing the whistle as loud as necessary to catch their attention as I walk them, especially in the early morning. It would be too disturbing to neighbors.

I bought this to stop our 7 year old dog from barking at everything. ..unfortunately, I can't get a reaction from her. She could care less if I blow that whistle or not. Now our 9 month old German Shepherd perks up ears and comes running!

I bought this higher end whistle under the impression that it was going to be silent to our ears, which it is not at all, regardless of how it is adjusted. My dogs also didn't respond to it any more then me making any other sound. The seller won't pay for return shipping so I suppose I will keep it, because I would rather not spend money and be left with no item. This could be used as your everyday whistle. Nothing worth $15. Disappointed to say the least.

Worked great with our small dog. Simply scared another one who wasn't barking - and our third large dog - it didn't phase. So I'd say it works great on "some dogs!"

This would probably work a lot better if we actually followed the directions, but for the rare times we need this whistle, it's not really what we should have gotten.

Read the instructions and unless I'm missing something I tried adjusting and dogs will give a quick look and go right back doing whatever it was they were doing.
