Fried and Salted Spanish Marcona Almonds - 1 LB / 453 G

I like them, I don't know why people are giving them such bad reviews. They have a smooth oily surface, and slightly salty. If I could change anything I might add just a touch more salt, but I can do that myself. Other Marcona almonds I've tried always seem to be really dry, these aren't.

The first time I ordered these they were in a heavy plastic vacuum sealed bag and were fresh & tasty. This time they were loose in a very thin plastic bag and rancid. As a consumer I would like to think the product I am ordering would be the same as the time before. Not so for this particular product.

I normally enjoy Marcona almonds, but this batch was almost inedible due to the amount of salt. The almonds were visibly coated with large salt crystals (see photo), and the salt completely overwhelmed the flavor. Marcona almonds are usually lightly salted with a more delicate balance, so this was surprising.

Marcona almonds from Spain are unique for their popcorn like buttery flavor and crunchy consistancy. In Spain they are used to make the yummy nougat confection called “Turron”.

These are not good quality or fresh. They have a very strong rancid oil taste indicating they are old. Not a good value. I threw them away. I would not buy them again.

Love these almonds -- I use them in everything: salads, snacks, hot cereals. The best almond -- forget about the others. If a recipe calls for sliced or slivers, well, I just give these a chop, and we're set to go. So easy to order these; I have them on Subscription delivery.
